I don't think one can really say it's Michelle Pfeiffer's movie considering that half of Hollywood seems to be in it. But if they want to describe it that way, who are we to argue?  [santa_wink]

Wow - even though New Year's Eve came in first for the week, it's numbers were, well, weak - only $13.7 million. Most times that would be considered a fairly lackluster opening, yet it came in first because the weekend as a whole was so weak overall. Check out:

It's going to be really interesting if, when the actuals come in later today, the weekend's box office really does wind up being at one of the lowest points ever. But then, in this ecomnomy, and with no real potential blockbusters opening, many people were likely spending their money on gifts for their friends and family and not on treating themselves to the movies...

When actuals came in NYE actually made $13.02 million. And the weekend has turned out to be one of the worst weekend tallies ever...
