ABC Television announced plans yesterday at the Television Critics Association meeting for their upcoming three-hour 50th anniversary special this spring. It will be taped at the Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. in March for broadcast in May.
The press release lists a multitude of programs that will be included in the special. Dark Shadows is included in the daytime category.

thats great news. i remember watching the 25th anniversary special in the 70s hoping DS would be mentioned. it was not. i dont think they mentioned any of the daytime shows.

It's nice to know that they're going to acknowledge a program that did well for them, but which they never gave due. However, when you consider they're covering 50 years of programming in a three hour special, (less than 4 minutes per year?!) I wouldn't hope for much. We're going to have to watch REALLY carefully to catch it!

And hope they don't edit it out all together because of time constraints. :(

It will air sometime in May 2003.
I hope they focus on their classic shows from the 50s through 80s, granted the only really classic show from the 50s they showed was The Lone Ranger, lol (and the first four seasons of Make Room for Daddy). NBC's 75th Anniversary was good, but it focused a little too much on all their current programming. IMO at least.

Glad to see DS get some recognition.
If you think about it, daytime should get some serious attention.
I've been watching OLTL since 1973!!
And, who can ever forget 'Maeve Ryan' singing "Danny Boy" each year on my b-day (St. Patrick's Day).
Who over the age of 25 doesn't know who 'Luke and Laura" are?
IMHO,

You'll be pleased to know that every show you mentioned is also supposedly getting a nod on the special.

About time. There aren't too many shows that can match the charisma of DS. May it live forever!
