Title: Stephen King & Dark Shadows
Post by: Janet the Wicked on September 15, 2011, 01:53:37 AM
I just finished re-reading Dreamcatcher. He’s got a lot of DS names in that one:
Trask, Devlin, Josette, Briscoe…

Has anyone ever seen him at a DS Fest?

There's a nice section on Dark Shadows in his non-fiction work Danse Macabre.

He also mentions Dark Shadows and its popularity in his novel Hearts in Atlantis.

Hey, thanks! I checked out the reviews on Amazon. Sounds pretty interesting, so I just ordered it.

I don't remember the program he was interviewed on, but he said DS was his favorite show.

In the 90s he told TV Guide that he got a satellite dish at his isolated Maine home specifically so he could watch DS on Sci Fi Channel.

And Jonathan Frid incorporated several Stephen King stories into his one man shows.

I believe it. I can definitely picture SK sitting back in his recliner with a container of coffee, a coconut custard donut, and a book/magazine/newspaper to read during those lengthy commercial interruptions.

Janet, does King actually use the phrase "a container of coffee" in any of his effusions?  What a hoot if so!  I had forgotten about the coconut custard doughnut.  How exotic for little old Collinsport!

Best, G.

Gee. I dunno. I guess I carried that over from the early episodes we've been commenting on lately.
