They are both set in Maine, so it's not inconceivable that characters might have encountered each other at some point. Roger could easily have business dealings of some sort with Leslie Harrington. Maggie might have waitresses with Sandy Webber. Mike Rossi could have known Julia in medical school. And Carolyn Stoddard and Carolyn Russell could compare Joe Haskell and Joe Rossi.

([pointing-up]  See - perfect crossover material right there! And both DS and Peyton Place were on ABC so a crossover would have been huge network synergy in the making, covering daytime and primetime!! But, alas...)
