Title: Dark Shadows on Court TV?

I found this interesting. TV Now is listing several Dark Shadows cast members as appearing in an episode of Court TV's The System entitled "Dark Shadows" airing on Halloween. I had assumed that this was simply an error or a coincidence.

Now that Court TV has updated their web site, you can see the full episode description, and this particular episode centers on the murder trial of Rod Ferrell in Florida in 1998. Ferrell allegedly led a vampire cult, and much was made of his interest in Dungeons & Dragons (which is a close second to heavy metal music as the root of all evil ;-) ) and a vampire role playing game. To the best of my knowledge, Ferrell was never pegged as a Dark Shadows fan, but the episode title has me curious.

I've also developed an interest in this sort of thing because the university has just approved a course proposal I submitted for a specialized version of freshman composition dealing with fans and fandom.

Since I don't get Court TV, if anyone happens to watch this, I would love to know if there's anything Dark Shadows about this other than the episode title.

Would it surprise you any to know that I have read a book about this case?  No mention of DS in that either.

But I am familiar with it....who'd a thunk, huh?

I have Court TV, will try to watch it. I'm usually asleep by 10pm.

Thanks for the info on the Court TV "Dark Shadows" segment. But I doubt very much if any DS celebs will be on it. I would have thought we would have heard notice from Marcy Robin's Shadowgram or the Festival.  TV Now probably saw the name "Dark Shadows" and made the mistake of picking out some of the actors from a reference book. Just in case, I will be checking it out!

I watched whole show tonight and heard no mention of the show Dark Shadows at all.  Basically, the whole thing was about Rod Ferrell and his dark which included,  the murders he committed,  his crazy 35 year old mother who said on the witness stand that she is in love with his 17 year old friend, ( she also tried to seduce a 14 year old brother of one of his friends)  his interests in vampires,  (and how he was introduced into this)  the trial and lastly the sentence that was handed to him which turned out to be the death penalty.

I was curious also when I read the title and could only sumise that the reason for this was to show everyone the "Dark Shadows" that were hiding in his troubled past & upbringing.

I watched the court tv episode called Dark Shadows also.  No stars from the soap were on or mentioned.  The only reason they may have used the title was because the defendant believed or believes he is a vampire.
