Apparently the Gold Key Story Digest is being reprinted. Amazon says it's due out on Aug 16th. The original had 144 pages, but the listing says it has 176. It also makes the following claim "this book presents a complete extended story with accompanying artwork". I'm not sure if this means that there restored portions that were excised in the orignal edition or if they are assuring the reader that it's a self contained longer story. Either way, it probably has some articles and other "special features".

I forgot to mention that the cover image has been changed. Since I've never seen the pic from the Digest anywhere else, I wonder if the original copy of the photo has been lost. It doesn't seem to be the likely reason though. It can't be too hard to track down a mint copy of the book and use that as the template for the reprint. With photoshop and other software, I can't imagine it would be too hard to make that shot workable for the cover. They're using another, more familiar publicity still in its place.

Thanks, The Doctor and K9! Craig Hamrick's scan of the original cover is here (http://www.darkshadowsonline.com/dso-digest.html), in case anyone is curious.
Never liked the picture, but I'm not wild about the new one either.

Of course it's also possible that the cover that appears on Amazon now may not be the image that's ultimately used. There have been cases where Amazon had an alternate version from what was eventually published. This was the case with Lara's first book, for example.

God, I'd completely forgotten about this one.
The phrase "scraping the bottom of the barrel" comes to mind...
