The proposed Rupert Holmes musical might have ended up being regarded that way, intentionally or not.

([pointing-up]  Yeah, well, due to Holmes' conflicts with DC while trying to work with him, we'll never know. If the musical had been in the style of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, which is how Holmes had wanted to do it, it might have been something quite interesting - but alas...)
