This might be a first, a DS cast member on Oscar.
Unless Joan Bennett once presented?
-
Jean Simmons was a presenter at least twice, and Ben Cross must've been seen during the 1982 ceremony, in clips from the Best Pic winner if not in person. And Harvey Keitel and Marsha Mason (more than once) both received nominations. Or did you mean to limit it to regular castmembers from the original DS? ;)
-
I've lost track of how many time Ben Cross has been seen in clips from Chariots of Fire because they've been shown so often through the years...
-
I forgot about Cross & Simmons, they do count.
Unless Joan once presented, then Selby would be the only original series member seen on Oscar.
Though considering what a huge name Joan was in 1940s film noir, I'd be surprised if she never presented at Oscar time.
Anyone know?

Hi David where could we view this clip from the Oscars?
Love Anne [snow_kiss]

It must be on You Tube by now.
I'll have a look this afternoon & see if I can find it for posting.

In that case, didn't we also see Joseph Gordon-Levitt in clips from Inception?
-
There's a good reason why Joan wasn't nominated for an Oscar although in retrospect it does seem unfair. At the height of her film career when she gave those great film performances in the 40s, her then-husband Walter Wanger was actually the president of the Academy!!! If he hadn't, she may have been recognized for those films she did for Fritz Lang and other top directors. If she had been nominated, there may have been cries of nepotism. I know, but it does seem unfair now, especially that the second Best Actress Oscar was given to Mary Pickford while her husband was the Academy's first president. One thing in Mary's favor: at the time she and Doug were the Hollywood power couple, so they could pretty much get away with what they wanted......
-
Um, there's this actress who was on the show named Grayson Hall... you might have heard of her...
sighing,
G.
-
I've been waiting for someone to bring Grayson up and have been surprised that it's taken this long - particularly when I've seen other Graysonphiles reading this topic. But maybe it's that they were in such shock by her omission that they fainted dead away at their computers and they've yet to revive. ;)
-
LOL, I was too.
-
Well, we've all taken Grayson's nomination for "Iguana" for granted- for DS fans it's written in stone.
-
Oh, dear, I did forget Night of the Iguana,
didn't I?
A film whose DVD release I actually reviewed,
ARGGGHHHHH..........!!!!!!!!
