Title: GRAMOPHONE SUGGESTIONS
Post by: VAM on October 06, 2002, 05:59:26 AM
The gramophone continuously plays "Quentin's Theme" on the Series. What tune or song would one of Quentin's gals wish to hear while with him? Make a selection for one or all of the following characters:

CRAZY JENNY

BETH CHAVEZ

ANGELIQUE

AMANDA HARRIS

RACHEL DRUMMOND

LAURA COLLINS

I don't remember Rachel Drummond well enough, but for the others I chose,

Crazy Jenny - "Mad World" Tears For Fears

Beth Chavez - "Heartache" Gene Loves Jezebel

Angelique - "Lady Evil" Black Sabbath

Laura Collins - "The Sign Of Fire" The Fixx

They are all great, Cassandra! Did you see the new show "Haunted" or something like that on UPN with Matthew Fox? That Linda Ronstadt song was a prominent part of the plot. I had to go buy her "Very Best of" cd after hearing it! I always did love that song. But upon hearing the cd, I decided "Heart Like a Wheel" is my favorite!

I played that song to death in 1982. I also went to see them in concert that year at Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA. It was so wild, the Marines had to be called in. I'll never forget it!

Thanks Kuanyin,  Yes and as a matter of fact I've been watching that new show 'Haunted" and really like it so far. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard that song in the show because I just love that song!  Next to "Crazy" by Patsy Cline,  that's got to be the saddest song I've ever heard and Linda Ronstadt sings it just beautifully.

It's something how some songs can only be sung by a certain artist. Linda also sings "Crazy" but it just doesn't compare to the way Patsy sings it and yet the song "Long Long Time" can only be sung by Linda Ronstadt because no one else can sing it the way she does.  Everytime I hear that song it makes me almost cry because it reminds me or a lost love years ago. So I thought it was so appropiate for poor Beth!

Yep, it is only a song for Patsy Cline.

"Crazy" should have been raised to the rafters the day Patsy kissed a mountain.

"Long Long Time" is one of my all time favorites, too.  Think I am going to have to pop it in and listen now.

I love Nancy Barrett's scenes with Donna McKechnie and Jerry Lacy in this episode.  Especially when Pansity and Amanda Bandana are in the drawing room and Pansity yanks open the door and hollers, "TRASK!  Hoy, TRASK!" That has got to rate as one of the funniest moments on DS!

I think in keeping with the classical music angle, I'd pick the Elvira Madigan concerto by Mozart for Quentin's grammophone.  It's very sad yet romantic, the way his theme was.  It would fit Quentin and Beth's relationship I think.

But if we're going for rock/pop music, "Take Me In Your Arms" by the Doobie Brothers would fit perhaps for Beth.

EG, the music nerd (been a music nerd since age 6 and still going strong LOL!)
