Title: Dan Curtis playing a character
Post by: Joeytrom on February 01, 2011, 02:39:50 PM
As Dan Curtis was a penny pincher, I'm surprised  he never considered casting himself on DS as an extra or a one/two episode character.   Would this have been against the rules of the actors union?

Imagine DC as Dr. Fisher, King Johnny Romano, etc.

I could very well be that to appear on a soap (at least a NY based soap) an actor has to belong to AFTRA. Hopefully Brian will see this topic and respond. But so far as DC goes, I suspect acting was one of the few things in the industry to which DC didn't aspire. So, that's probably why he never played any roles on the show. Because if he could get into the directors union, he certainly would have found a way to get into the actors union.  [b003]

Gordon Russell waited until the very last DS scene to write himself in, so I imagine there was some kind of trouble he was trying to avoid by not doing it earlier on.   But if DS is over and he's out the door the next day, why not?

Dan Curtis could have been the executioner at
Quentin and Desmond's scheduled beheading
near the end of 1840. That was a role that had no dialogue whatsoever.

Or maybe...he was? Does anyone know who it was under that mask, if not DC?

How about a Blue Whale patron?

Walking the streets of Collinsport. Hitchcock-esque.
