The Vickie parentage question will never be answered so let's go to more interesting and unexplored threads. . .was Magda somehow related to Julia, grandma, weird auntie or hired help?
Discuss amonst yourselves. ..

I have always thought reincarnation was a better explanation than genetics. The same souls kept being drawn to Collinwood over the generations.
The chances of looking exactly like your great-great-grandmother are about nil. Though my brother does look a LOT like our grandpa. That would be 1/4 his ancestry. I can't even do the math on the other, I'll pretend it is because it is late at night and I'm tired.

I'm not so sure about that, kuanyin. Don't forget those early settlers must have inter-married one another pretty often in the early days.
My cousin's son is an absolute dead ringer for our grandfather (his great-grandfather)....enough so to cause one poor old lady to have hysterics at a family funeral, thinking the old man had come back!!

My own theory is that Magda is a very distant relative of the Countess Natalie DuPres. We know nothing about the DuPres family and it's conceivable that Natalie may have had maternal relatives she knew nothing about. Julia, likewise, may be a descendant of one of these relatives.

That's what I always thought was the case on Dark Shadows too. I remember my ex sister-in-law showing me an old black and white photo of a long deceased relative who looked just like her oldest son.

It may be unimaginative, but I don't think that Magda was necessarily related to Julia or Natalie. I never really felt that there had to be any sort of connection among characters who simply looked alike. For instance, I don't believe that Willie is a lost Collins or that Sandor and Count Petofi are related to the Stokes family. It can be fun to speculate, but those theories can often become very complicated.

All I know is when I was about eleven my mothers brother brought down from an attic a picture of my great, great, grandmother and swore I looked just like her. I was horrified, she had a very severe face and hair like a poodle. It was of course the style of the day. I think I cried all the way home. My uncle of course did not mean this as an insult. My youngest son is the image of his dad only his hair is lighter than my husbands at the same age. Now of course it is gray and my son's is darker. With family genetics anything is possible.

?!? Magda was a gypsy, was she not? I can't see how she was related to Liz. Maybe so, though, stranger things have happened in DS.

*******SPOILER********
What does that have to do with anything? Magda's sister, also gypsy I assume, was married to a Collins. . that's why Magda was around .. .

I knew that Magda's sister, Jenny was Liz's sister-in-law, but I thought that we were talking about blood relatives. I am a little stung by your reply. Sorry, Julia.
