Title: WILLIE LOOMIS 1897 STYLE
Post by: VAM on September 28, 2002, 12:17:55 PM
Does anyone see a little bit of John Karlen's Willie Loomis character in Carl Collins? If so when and how?  Is this a signature statement by Mr. Karlen? Do the other actors/actresses show a signature in there DS multi-character roles? The topic makes for an interesting discussion for all you John Karlen fans and some others ;)

Aside from the twitchy nervousness, I see no resemblance between Willie and Carl.  Then again, I haven't seen Carl in a long time.  (What a ditzy fruitcake)  LOL   But I LOVE 'im.

Yes....a little bit.  But I LOVE Carl.  Absolutely love him, much more so than Willie.  Carl is so cute and funny.

I would say so.  There aren't any other characters quite like Carl.

Liz and Judith seem exactly the same to me.

I don't relly see that Willie and Carl have anything in common. I do like Carl very much, but Willie is my favorite.

I like both roles but don't see any Willie in Carl either
but could see Willie with a Pansy Faye!

i hated the way they killed Carl off it is the one flaw in the relationship between B&Q. Quentin knows about it
can't understand how he can forgive Barnabas!

They seem very different to me.  There is a general similarity, both are rather authoritative with a commanding presence and running the estate.  But Liz also had a warm, gracious and caring aspect to her character.  Judith was always quite severe and I wonder if she ever had any enjoyment of anything!

No, I don't see any resemblence with the acting between Willie & Carl.  Willie was usually high strung and nervous, not silly like Carl was. Probably the only time I saw Willy acting exceptionally silly was when he was teasing Adam with that half eaten chicken leg!

I liked how John Karlen portrayed both characters, each one with a unique style of his own.  Carl was a total hoot too!

As for the other actors/actresses,  well for me, Josette, Maggie & Rachel were all pretty much the same. From the way the sentences were said, the stance & poise, to the pauses in between sentences,  IMHO the only difference I saw between them was the different hairstyles & clothing.  Lady Kitty I liked and thought she was played completely different from the other three.

All of Roger Davis' characters acted the same way also. With the exception of Dirk Wilkins, I couldn't tell who was who from time to time.
