Title: Vampire Paper Dolls (includes original Barnabas)
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on January 02, 2011, 04:25:17 AM
Apparently a place called DoverPublications.com (http://store.doverpublications.com/0486477193.html) is offering a vampire paper doll set ($9.99) that includes the original DS' Barnabas. This person has scanned some of her favorites from the set (including Barnabas): Vampire Paper Dolls (http://joleenenaylor.wordpress.com/2010/12/30/vampire-paper-dolls/)

Too bad Barn doesn't come with more than one outfit - say one for each time period.  [santa_wink]

And it's illustrated by Tom Tierney, the guy who did those great paper dolls of many a Hollywood legend (Garbo, Crawford, Monroe, Garland et al) some years back!

"Barbnabus" takes the cake as the ugliest misspelling ever (to date) of the name Barnabas.  Ouch!

And what the hell is the ancient Egyptian Goddess Sekhmet doing in a flock of vampires?  She was actually described in the texts as an "avenging eye of Ra" so She had a solar aspect... I suppose some trash novelist in one of those glossy paperback series that seem to litter every book rack across the nation described Her somewhere or other as a vampire Goddess?

Tom Tierney is a very gifted artist.  I heartily recommend his Sixties fashion doll series, also from Dover, for those who enjoy some of the more outlandish fashions of the era.

I like the pairing of Barnabas and Blacula.  Now that would have been an interesting film...
