Which from the following three individuals would you select as the most loyal, dedicated, and unselfish sidekick of Barnabas? Select one and explain your choice.
BEN STOKES
WILLIE LOOMIS
JULIA HOFFMAN

A close tie between Ben and Julia. Willie was under Barnabas's power much of the time so he had no choice. Julia's loyalty stems from her romantic designs on him. Ben was treated much better than Willie by Barnabas--he showed Barnabas unselfish loyalty.

No contest. BEN STOKES.
Willie was pretty loyal and caring (I don't know why), but he was under Barn's power so you can't count him. I mean, aside from being under Barn's power, he DID care about him you know? Don't think I'm putting this very well.
Anyway, Julia was in love with him, so...well...
It's Ben. A faithful servant and friend no matter what. Unconditional loyalty.
And besides, I LOVE BEN!!

I would vote for Ben. Though Julia was also a very devoted and self-sacrificing sidekick, I agree with Maria_Merriweather that she was mainly hoping for Barnabas to become attracted to her. Also, I always thought she was a bit crazy for putting up with him, particularly in the early days when he was trying to throttle her every five minutes.
Ben's loyalty was more pure; he stuck by Barnabas because he was a friend, not because he expected to gain anything. He knew that by helping Barnabas he was putting himself in danger, but he remained loyal despite threats from Angelique and from Barnabas himself.

I vote Ben for all the above reasons but also want to add that Willie did continue to be loyal even after
Barnabas released him and Julia did put up with a lot of SYTs there was just something about Barnabas that
brought out that loyalty! I have to add Angelique's
through the centuries lust!thought today was pretty sad
when Barnabas told Ben and Vicki he'd never see them again!

Most loyal dedicated and unselfish?
Ben Stokes without a doubt.
Willie is afraid of Barn and kind of unstable mentally. Julia has that "love is blind" thing in her favor but her conscience still gets to her. Barn was kind to Ben when Ben was a poor enslaved servent to Joshua.
Ben would run into a burning building for Barnabas.

Definetely BEN!! The poor guy put up with alot to help Barnabas and at the same time was constantly under threat by Angelique if he ever dared to say a word against her. Although Ben knew this he still put himself in danger by trying to warn Barnaba and Josette about the witch, at which she rendered him mute.[sssh]
Unlike Julia & Willie, Ben also had others to answer to such as Joshua, Abigail, Angelique and anyone else who felt like ordering him around. Yet, he always put Barnabas' needs first and was constantly jeapodizing his own safety as a result of it.

It's Ben, hands down. Loyal, faithful, he would do anything for Barnabas.....today, he even killed Forbes and Countess Natalie Du Pres. All for Barnabas, and that ain't so bad.

It's virtually unanimous....Ben was the most loyal and faithful.
Could that be because he was the only one from whom Barnabas deserved loyalty and fidelity?
Julia suffered the indignities of unrequited love. She trashed her career, shredded her self-respect and committed acts of violence for Barnabas.
Willie behaved like exactly what he was: a victim of long term abuse. Pathetically grateful for any attention that didn't involve being hurt....unable to refuse any demand, no matter how awful.....sublimating horrifying memories in order to survive.
Ben could be loyal to Barnabas because he was the only one who knew him when he was purely human, and humane. Julia and Willie only knew what came after Angelique's curse....cured or not, he could never again be the man Ben Stokes knew.

that is true Rainey but have to add ,as it has been stated before what an amazing actor Thayer David was,(the best in the series IMHO :)),so different in all his roles. Ben will always be my favorite one though and have to agree it wasn't fair how they killed him off!:'(

I did like Ben because he was an honest man
towards Barnbas i'll miss Ben he seemed to be like
a Father to everyone or a GrandFather!
