They preempted Dark Shadows for basketball? Dear me, I had forgotten just what a strange decade the 1960s were.

The odd thing about that is that It would have been more expected for DS to have been preempted on the Thursday because it was Thanksgiving. 1970 was the only year during the show's run that it actually aired on Thanksgiving. But then ABC made up for that by preempting DS on the Friday afterward instead.
Though it could have been worse - in 1966 DS was preempted on Thanksgiving AND on the Friday afterward. The Thursday was for football. BUT the Friday was for cartoons!!

I'm due to be Raptured in less than an hour, but I don't suppose you're referring to that.

Um, not quite. But I think you may have already missed out on the Rapture because the last I read is that lunatic had revised his calculations and it was supposed to happen at 6 in Pago Pago, which would have coincided across the world as 2am ET and 11pm PT of last night. And since nothing happened, well, who knows what he's going to come up with next? But then, this is the umpteenth prediction of the Rapture supposedly going to take place from who knows how many such people, and, well, obviously none of them have ever taken place...
On the other hand, what the post is referring to is completely DS related and completely Watching Project related - and it will take place as scheduled...

It does seem to me that if we go right from the episode 1245 to episode 1 in the Watching Project without a decent interval for mourning, then we'll be watching episode 1 on the 45th anniversary of its original broadcast, but I'm not sure that qualifies as a Happening.

Qualifies as one for me because that's exactly what I was referring to (not to mention that the subsequent eps will all be coinciding with their original airdates as well until we decide to take some sort of a break at some point) - though I didn't actually say it was a Happening, only that it was something that was going to happen very soon. But what I find interesting is that it wasn't even planned - it's just working out that way completely on its own.

As for an interval for mourning, there was never one when the Sci-Fi Channel ran DS - it always went right from Ep #1245 to Ep #1 on the very same day. At least with the Watching Project there will be three days in between. [ghost_wink]

We haven't actually done the pre-Barn eps yet. A lot of people still didn't own them when the Watching Project began back in January of '07, so we kicked off with Ep #210. But a lot more people have indicated that they've gotten the pre-Barn eps since then and they're really looking forward to watching them as part of the WP (and perhaps even others will follow along with the Robservations). And the fact that the schedule for watching the pre-Barn eps is going to coincide with the 45th Anniversary of their original airdates is really too serendipitous not to do them. [ghost_wink]

I was frustrated today because I lost my Internet connection soon after I made a couple posts this morning. Then it came back, I made a couple more posts, and then I lost it again for several hours because, after calling my provider, I learned they were having trouble with their network. So, I wasn't able to post half the things that I had planned to (like the CTP/FITBs captures for Ep #1). Instead I decided to go out with a friend and make a day of it doing other things. I just got home a few minutes ago. But we had so much fun that I'm exhausted, so all the things I would have posted today will just have to wait until tomorrow. [ghost_smiley]

As many of you know, I got REALLY behind with the WP and pretty much gave it up. [ghost_shocked] BUT... I decided to start watching DS from the beginning this week in honor of the 45Th anniversary of its debut. [ghost_cheesy] I've already watched the first 9 episodes. I checked here tonight, and, lo and behold, the WP is watching the beginning episodes, too! [milestone] WOW! What a coincidence! [clap2] I just might start posting for the WP again! [ghost_wink] That's neat that the WP is starting to watch from Episode #1, and the days coincide exactly with how they were in 1966! [ghost_grin]
