Title: Signature Scent?
Post by: Raineypark on September 20, 2002, 05:59:29 PM
.....Josette's was Jasmine and now they tell us that Lilac was Vicki's?  Are there up-coming characters with their own signature scents?

Do women have signature scents anymore?

I'm wearing Gardenia right this minute, but tomorrow it will almost certainly be something else!

Have signature scents gone the way of garters, gloves and hats in church?

Ladies?

Raineypark...who's mother always wore Shalimar on special occasions.

The ghost of Daphne also had the signature scent of lilacs.
My late mother-in-law always wore Paloma.  It was so strong that once during a long car ride I sneezed so much I ended up with a nosebleed.  My husband finally showed some guts and told her not to wear it anymore.

My signature scent is Chanel No. 5, it's been around forever, and I love it!

I am the queen of new scents and am addicted to sephora.com. Right now I wear three scents. Light Blue by Dolce and Gabbana, Amazing Grace by Philosophy and Vera Wang. Not all at the same time of course. :-)

Have you ever been in their store? What a shopping experience!! Went to the one in Desert Passage in the Aladdin Hotel in Vegas and just went nuts. My daughter would have bought out the store.

I live in Las Vegas, that's pretty much the norm around here! My daughter drives me nuts when we go shopping anywhere, I don't care what she sees that she wants, her dad buys it for her! She's the most spoiled 6 year old on the planet!

During the early pre-Barnabas eps of DS, whenever Josette's ghost appeared it was accompanied by the scent of Jasmine. However, when we went back in time and actually met Josette, there was no mention of her love for Jasmine. (Just Rose Water.) Likewise, with the ghost of Daphne it was the scent of lilacs, yet in 1840 when she is alive there is no mention of her liking lilacs or the scent of them.

Paranormal experts often report that the appearance of a benevolent spirit is accompanied by a pleasant smell. The scent of flowers may be indicative of a friendly ghost rather than that ghost's preference of perfumes while they were alive.

By the same token, it is often said that the presense of an evil spirit is accompanied by a foul smell. There is no indication that Quentin or Gerard ever left an unfortunate odor so they might have chosen to simply ignore this aspect. It would be funny, though, to see David and Amy holding their noses upon exiting the West Wing.

One of my two favorites!

The one I always wear however is Cabotine by De Gres`
It's a French perfume and my all time favorite!

On special occasions, I wear Estee Lauder's "Beautiful" and I've worn it since my teens.  However, for everyday scents, I wear either Cotton Blossom (my hubby's favorite), Juniper Breeze, Happiness, Plumeria (all from Bath and Body Works) or Secret Crush (From Victoria's Secret).  And for relaxation I use Bath and Body WOrk's Eucalyptus/Spearmint aromatherapy.  If I were a ghost I'd confuse the heck out of everyone showing up smelling different every time LOL.

I think it is probably less common to have a signature scent, but some still do. Of course, Vicky's couldn't have been "White Shoulders" or "Charley", without manufacturer's approval, so lilac was a safe choice.

Personally, I have a collection too long to list, plus aromatherapy oils.

I remember in 9th grade getting Charley for Christmas and thinking I was so cool wearing an adult scent to school. Prior to that it was Love's Baby Soft.
What about men's scents. What would Quentin wear?

Do any of you remember Evening in Paris, those blue bottles with the tassel on the top?  I always thought when I was young that that was the real elegant perfume to have.

I like  Addidas now, I get tired of a scent then experiment around with them.  Ever come out of a cosmetics section of a store smelling like a French whorehouse, whatever that smells like.

I think the men of Collinwood would probably use

Quentin---Stetson
Barnabas---Old Spice
Nicolas Blair---Brute
Willie Loomis---Probably doesn't use a cologne, just Right Guard.

Just some thoughts, just over the counter stuff.

Quentin doesn't wear cologne.  (doesn't need it)  LOL
Sometimes if he's going out, he uses Braggi Aftershave and that's it.

I thought Old Spice sounded right for Barnabas but too cheap. How about Royal Copenhagen instead?
I can't wear perfume my husband(Mr. Romance) says it gives him a headache.

I would have thought the obvious choice for the 'cousin from England' would have been English Leather!
