Title: Mystery Portrait Found At Yard Sale
Post by: Connie on September 07, 2002, 07:44:46 AM
Ya know that portrait on the wall yesterday at Stokes' place?  Well, it was hanging at Nicholas' house last time I saw it.  My daughter says the only plausible explanation is that Barnabas and Julia held a yard sale at Nicholas' place after his demise.  (Stokes must have picked it up cheap or something).  LOL

Who IS that guy?  [hdscrt]

The same portrait also hangs in the courtroom in 1840 during Quentin's trial.
(Maybe the guy was a popular founding father of Collinsport?)

I noticed that too.  Looks likes Colonel Sanders to me!

You tend to see different Pictures, knick knacks, furniture, etc show up in different homes.  Maybe they weren't as wealthy as we are led to believe, had to share stuff.

Connie,

Yeah, we've all speculated about that portrait.  Maybe it's a painting of one of the Smith Brothers.  Then again, the guy looks like either Sacco & Venzetti. (I'll bet that Raineypark's grandad, like mine, used to "comment" on that putative case of injustice.)

The guy also looks like he could the ancestor of actor Avery Schreiber (frequent Match Game Show celebrity contestant) or, possibly, the great-grandfather of former St. Louis Cardinal relief pitcher, Al "The Mad Hungarian" Hrabosky!

Bob the Bartender, who thinks that Willie Loomis would have looked cool with that same style of handlebar moustache.

That box that holds the hand of Count Petofi has also shown up in more places than luggage lost by United Airlines.

The portrait I believe you are refering to is that of Zachary Collins, although it had a strange habit of roaming about... :)

He was also later dubbed to be Ezra Braithwaite I.
