Was Maggie wearing a pair of sky blue pumps today with her wedding dress? They never seem to pay too much attention to shoes on this show, do they?

Yes! a very lovely pair of satin pumps, robins egg blue!

I can't remember if it was Nolan Miller who said this or not, but I think it was.
Anyhow, the designer was working on a tv show with Barbara Stanwyck very late in her career (The Colbys?) and she reportedly told him something like, "if they notice the shoes, something is very wrong."

I thought Maggie's dress looked more like a first communion dress than a brides.

Speaking of wedding attire....at the start of the series, back in 1795, didn't Maggie's veil look like a curtain panel? I swear my mom had white curtain panels that looked like that.
-
Maybe the shoes were supposed to be her "something blue"?

True...
But what kind of dress does a woman wear in a ceremony that binds her soul to a warlock for eternal life in Hell?

She should have borrowed Eve's dress--black would have been more appropriate but I guess Nicholas didn't want to frighten his bride to be with dreams of hellfire and damnation.

lol Scout.... talk about an occasion being hard to shop for! "I just love this little polyester dress, but will it melt and turn into a hard plastic cocoon???"

I've heard about those and seen pix! Some women will do anything for a bargain!

I managed to avoid that sale. Though I must say my Dad was the king of bargains. He brought me to some strange place in Marboro to find my wedding dress. Actually, it was very pretty. I paid a very reasonable price for it. All this brings back memories. Thursday we celebrated our 22nd anniversary. Looking back at the pictures I can't believe how young I was. My husband had black hair than and a mustache. I was a few pounds lighter. Sorry, this is so far off topic. I guess I am rambling.

Congratulations and many more years of happiness together! [angl2]

Ditto from me, Birdie [thumb]
It's nice to know people that stay together longer than two seconds. We're heading toward 28 years in April, 2003.

Our 20th is this October.
My wedding dress was an off-the-rack Gunny Sax prom dress for which I paid almost nothing. The stupid veil I didn't want to wear in the first place cost twice as much as that wonderful dress.
Our wedding was very small and very 'country'.....both the church and the Inn where our reception took place have been there since the Revolutionary War. It's nice to think that 200+ years of brides and grooms have said their vows in that same place!
And YES....I think we old-married folk deserve kudos for hanging in there! [lghy]

Her dress and veil were blue, so why not blue shoes too?

My parents are heading toward 50 years in January, 2003. I have to plan a party for them. I know my brothers won't do it.

[thumb][thumb]In five years, I hope my children will give us a 50th anniversary party. We celebrated our 45th this July. Now you know about how old I am!
Yes, I think that the dress, veil and shoes were blue.

I certainly hope so too. Happy 45th! I am divorced, but I would have been married 17 years on Sept. 28th, oh well! I'm glad it worked out for you though.

Congrats to you, too, Rainey!

I wore a halter wedding dress that I saw in a bridal magazine and my aunt's friend made it for $80.

How nice! The cheapest place we could find was the reception hall over a bowling alley. Our daughter thinks that was a hoot--as if who would have a reception there.

I sometimes wonder how we got this far--it went by so fast!

I'm sure you will have lots of fun planning it even if your brothers won't help. Gosh, 50 years for us won't be until 2025--I should live so long!

Congrats to you, too, Afan. Who cares how old you are as long as you are young at heart.

Congratulations to you Birdie, Rainey & Afan!! I wish you all the best!! :-)
