Title: CELL CATCH
Post by: VAM on September 02, 2002, 08:39:44 PM
A number of post have mentioned the notion of cell phone usage at present day Collinwood. There were many times that such an invention would have come in handy and no doubt changed the outcome of events. When and how would it make a difference?

Haha, Dark Shadows wouldn't have been the same if everyone walked around with cell phones...

David in secret mausoleum room: "Hey, I'm stuck in a secret room, and, uuhhh, Barnabas is a vampire, bye."

Of course, the writers would have the characters not be able to get signals at all the wrong moments...

as someone mentioned earlier, a cell phone would have been handy for barnabas after the ghost of trask sealed him up in the wall. and david sure could have used one locked in that mauseoleum.. i wonder if barnabas could have used his when william h loomis locked him in the coffin in 1970 pt, and called julia in regular time? and when julia buried the barnster alive after she thought he had died...love to hear that converation.
julia...hello
barnabas...hello julia, guess who this is?
julia...omg,barnabas???
barnabas.....yes, julia, its me, i was just lying around, thought i would call you and ask how all that fresh air and sunlight is where you are.
julia.....%#&*  i thought you were dead, where are you?
barnabas....DUH, i will give you one guess.
julia...ok barnabas, i will be there in a few minutes, have to take care of davids stubbed toe first
barnabas...sure julia, take your time, i am sure there is plenty of air in this sealed coffin...$#&*(&%$ it julia, get your ass over here NOW, and get me the heck out of this ^$$&&  coffin!!!  i will be, not laying here, accepting this!!!
julia....oh barnabas, dont get your panties in a wad, its not that bad.
barnabas.....NOT THAT BAD!!!!???  *&%#&*((^$%*
julia....you are breaking up barnabas, i will see you in a bit. (julia exits collinwood, with big smirk on her face)

Adam could of used one to order pizza delivery when he was staying in the west wing.

When Matthew Morgan kept Vicki prisoner in the secret room, she could have dialed with her nose and yelled to whoever answered, "Hey, save my ass!  I'm being held prisoner in a secret room at the Old House, behind the bookcase in the drawing room!  Matthew, what are you doing with that axe????   Nooooooooo!"  (Trails off in a death gurgle.)

Love, Robin

Hey, that would be a great idea for poor Liz to use! Maybe then she wouldn't worry so much about being "buried alive" and we'd all be relieved! [wink2]
She just has to make sure it's fully charged, otherwise we just might hear her say, CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?![smash] [smash]         [/b]   and if that's the case, they just might decide to leave her there!![wavey]

Of course, the cell phones would only prove useful as long as there was no static.  Otherwise...

Barnabas: Willie!  I said, 'I'm at the coffin.  Bring me a hammer and a stake,' not ham and steak!  How am I supposed to destroy Tom Jennings with these?

ROFL  [hello]

Well, now there's an interesting thought. Why couldn't you call Parallel Time with a cell phone? Let's say Barnabas has his cell with him when he goes into the PT room and it changes to PT; couldn't he page Julia's cell phone in regular time?

Would the cell phones work from hell? And vice versa? Would Nicholas Blair or Angelique simply be able to pick up the phone and call their master? Or would static be an issue?

How about time travel? Let's say Vicki takes her cell phone with her back to 1795. Could she call Elizabeth in 1968 and tell her she's doing all right?

It could have saved Angelique from her recent trip. Hey, static is  also an issue on earth ...;)

For the same reason you can't talk to someone in Parallel time.  Remember?  When you stand in the doorway and try to talk to someone in the PT room, they can't hear or see you.

It's another band of time -- a different frequency so to speak.

(I can't believe I'm actually thinking about this)  LOL    [sconf]

Jennifer,

Okay, okay.....now HERE's a question:  LOL

Since your husband works for the phone company, I started thinking about communicating with someone in PT in another way.  MY husband works for FEDEX.
So.....if you deliver an Overnight Letter to the Parallel Time room when it's empty, and then the room changes, will the people there get the letter??

(I can't ask my husband 'cause he's asleep).   ROFL !!

In regards to cellphone signals......

(This commercial never aired).

Barnabas rises up out of his coffin in the small room behind the bookcase at the Old House.  He needs to call Julia to let him out of there, but with all the static, he has to move around the room until she can hear him.

BARNABAS: (moves to the left of coffin) "Can you hear me now?"

(moves to the right of coffin) "Can you hear me now?"

(leans over coffin) "Can you hear me now?"

(gets down on the floor) "Can you hear me now?"

(finally, just gets up and stands on top of coffin) "Can you hear me NOW???"

::)
