I was in the archive; system seemed to be running at a snail's pace, so I was gonna get out, but, when you're in the archive, there doesn't seem to be a place to logout?
I had to go home (then decided to post this question).
Is this right?

Everything seems to be fine now. ;)

You can't login or logout in the archive. You did exactly what you have to do: Click on "Home" in the menus at the top and bottom of most of the archive's pages, and then after you've returned to the main forum, you can logout.

I haven't forgotten. [winkb] I just haven't come across any yet...

Hey Patti girl,
Since you're logging out, you should probably keep track of the time you spend on the forum cuz when the time that's set in your login form expires (the default is 60 min.), you have to log in again if you want to continue reading the board. That most likely also explains your complaints of posting messages that don't show up (in other words... your expiration expires before you can post your message).
As long as I'm using a secure PC, I just stay logged in by checking the square. Then I don't have to worry about logging out, logging in, or getting booted off the forum.
