Title: Barn & Ang--Together in the Hut
Post by: ROBINV on August 24, 2002, 02:20:06 PM
The scene in the hut was always one of my favorites.  She kneels behind him and bites his throat--a very erotic scene.  She talks about their affair, which they see quite differently.  For Angelique, Barnabas made a pledge-- apparently with his body language--to her.  He insists, annoyed, that he made no pledge.  She speaks of always feeling as a woman feels, even though she's a witch.  And she tells him that while she's hated his actions, she could never hate him.  Barnabas, in despair, realizes that she's planning to turn him back into a vampire.  Their conversation  really seems to explain how she felt he was repressing his real feelings for her, but Barnabas, a
typical guy, felt it was nothing but a fling.

Also, she mentions "that night in Martinique," but on another occasion, indicates "nights."  I know some folks believe theirs was a one-night stand, but I always felt it had to be of longer duration, given her obsession with him.

What do you think?  Night--or nights?

Love,
Robin

Barnabas is no fool......it's nights.

And the way poor Angelique pours her heart out to Barnabas!  I love Barnabas, but sometimes he's a bit to arrogant with Angelique.  And Angelique, she'll take it from Barnabas...for awhile, but then look out.

Dear RobinV,

Great point about Angelique's new technique of biting Mr. B. from behind.  I was very impressed with Angelique's creative and innovative approach to giving Barnabas a hickey.  (You know, they really should publish a book on all of the proper biting techniques for aspiring vampires!)

Sincerely,

Bob the Bartender, "typical" guy

Angelique's attacks are always the best and most realistic of the whole vampy bunch...

These vamps must be great aims, I notice they always hit the same holes over again! I have used my earrings to punch a new hole in the back of my ear time and time again, but they inerringly make their mark in that same spot.

Their conversation reminded me of Cameron Diaz in "Vanilla Sky" "Don't you know when you sleep with someone, your body makes a promise, whether you do or not?"

Remarkably, the holes always look the same...

I imagine it was nights. Barnabas was in Martinique for Im sure quite awhile, and during that time he mentioned that Josette wasn't sure of how she felt for him. It wasn't until he returned home that he and Josette started writing and sharing their feelings for one another. So, Im pretty sure he spent those nights in Martinique with Angelique. Plus I know that she seems obsessed, but I don't think she would get that obsessed over a one night stand. ;)

Well, I think she would.  (Knowing Angelique as intimately as I do)  LOL

Ya know, there were a few last minute script changes made to that little scene in the hut.  Frid felt some of Barnabas' words and gestures were a bit out of character.  The original script read as follows:

------------
Angelique:  The memory of a night in Martinique has never left my mind.

Barnabas:  Oh puleeeze!  One lousy roll in the hay, and I've got you all over my back forever!

Angelique (ignoring him):  You came to me that night and I was full of love for you.  How else could I have given you so much of myself?

("Damned if I know," Barnabas mutters under his breath).

Angelique:  And I knew then, that no power in the universe could prevent us from one day keeping the pledge we made that night.

Barnabas:  Yeah - right.  I got yer pledge!  Right HERE!  (He grabs himself)
------------

Frid forgot his lines again and the teleprompter was not working so he improvised... ;)

LMAOPIMP!  Oh, girl, you do know how to "tweak" lines on DARK SHADOWS!  Wheeeeee!  I bet everything you said is what he was thinking, too, word for word!

I wonder if Ang has been "having her way" with Barnabas , off-camera, while biting him?  If I were her, I sure would!

Thanks for the early morning laugh--coffee nearly spewed from my nostrils!

Love, Robin

Dear Kuanyin,

Your point about the vampires' unerring aim in hitting/biting the same target is well taken.  However, I think that we have to remember that as batlike creatures, vampires do have an inherent radarlike sense which assists them in always hitting/biting what they're aiming for.

Sincerely,

Have you ever seen Fatal Attraction?  ;) Obsessed people don't follow the laws of reason.  Hell, look at all the stalkers who insist that there's a connection between them and their object of desire.

See how much has changed in 35 years?!!!

Back then,  Angelique was fascinating and romantic in her single-minded pursuit of Barnabas.

Today, she's just another demented stalker. She'd get her 15 minutes of fame, an interview with Katie Couric, and be the subject of a food-fight between Bill O'Reilly and a member of the Wiccan community,  before disappearing from view.

Robin, I'm with you-I absolutely loved that scene on Friday! I have never seen any of these episodes (where Angelique attacks Barnabas) before. Both Frid and Parker do an AMAZING job here. That scene is going down as one of my favorites.

I love this show!  ;D

Oh, Angelique would NEVER merit an appearance with Katie Couric. More like Jerry Springer.

TODAY! On the Jerry Springer Show! "I'm a witch and I'm stalking a vampire!" Our special guests are Angelique Bouchant, Barnabas Collins and Dr. Julia Hoffman.

(Catfight between Angelique and Julia ensues.)

(Bodyguards step in to pull them apart.)

AUDIENCE: JER-RY! JER-RY! JER-RY! JER-RY! JER-RY! JER-RY! JER-RY!
