Title: MALPRACTICE SHE WROTE
Post by: VAM on August 19, 2002, 03:37:04 AM
Granted Julia always comes out "smelling like a rose" with her successful treatments or cure-all techniques. Should a practice of this sort be under suspect? How many of us would like Dr. Julia as our family physician? What is the general consensus?

Sure, she could be my doctor...  there were times I would have liked a sedative or two... or three........[twch2] [crazd] [idea2] [sleep]

Not sure I'd want to take the risk of having her as my family physcian, seems a lot of her success or lack there of depends on which way the supernatural winds blow.  :-/

I have always been of the opinion that Julia would have been a great doctor for the likes of Elvis Presley... 8)

Yes! I would love Dr. Hoffman as my family physician,
I would feel so much better knowing Julia was there to help me... "remember to forget" as well as "forget to remember", not many doctors around willing to risk it all, and take no chances like Dr. Hoffman.  ;)

LOL!! Scout75 that was too much!!

Seriously though, I don't think I'd mind her that much because there are plenty of times I could use a stimulant or a sedative here.

I would love Julia as my Doctor.  Shes loyal, she knows her stuff, she'll give you sedatives when you feel that lives not going right for you and , the best part, she's a woman.

Tough question.  I think Julia is a great lady, certainly loving and loyal--but I can never forget what she did to Dr. Woodard, supposedly a colleague and friend of hers (and perhaps more in med school).  If for some reason Barnabas wanted her to help do away with me, I'd be a goner.  So I think I'll stick with my present physician.

Aside from that, while the thought of living in a drug-induced stupor is appealing some days, I think I'd rather avoid uppers and downers.  Ultimately, they sure didn't do Elvis any good!

Love, Robin

Hmmm...she could always go back to being a historian or should we forget...

First of all, Julia is supposed to be a psychiatrist.  Not a GP and not someone who specializes in IM, so no, I wouldn't want her as my family physician.  She wouldn't have that kind of practice to begin with unless she's got the certification to do those types of medicine.  That's not how medicine works.

And no, I wouldn't want her as my doctor--in any capacity.  It has more to do with the fact that the Hippocratic Oath seems to be a very casual thing with her than anything else--as prospective patients, we would never know about her misdiagnoses or controversial methods, not unless she'd been sued for malpractice or disciplined by the AMA.

Whether she's a competent shrink or not . . . well, aside from Maggie, we don't have evidence of that.   However, even before she honed in on Barnabas, her manner would have put me off.

My biggest fear having Julia as my doctor would be that (as you know) the poor lady never, ever sleeps...   Up all day with the Collins family, up all night in co-hoots with Barnabas...

I'd hate to have her making medical decisions about me when she'd been on a week-long non-sleep marathon.

Back off the coffee, Julia!
