And this is a bad thing because...?

My apologies to the students on the boards, but the moms will understand.  Hope you have a nice weekend too, Donna!

Midnite, your comment reminded me of my dear friend who passed away a few years ago.  She use to say "School is good", and lets just wave the bus good-bye and dance in the street.  Her favorite commercial was the one for Staples, the most wonderful time of the year.

I hate school and just about everything associated with it.  Homework, tons of paper coming home, having to make lunches every night, science projects (ugh), parent-teacher conferences (what a bore)...it just goes on and on.  Ya gotta sign THIS, ya gotta sign THAT.  Then there's the PTA - oh puleeeeeze.

I LIKE having my kids around.
I realize school is a necessary evil, but I wish the school year was shorter, and summer vacation longer.

I have already started school.....we started back this past monday. :(

After I've enjoyed a great summer full of DS,now it's time to get back to books, classes, and homework...RATS!!!!

Needless to say,the only thing that gets me through the day is knowing that when i get home I can watch DS.

Anyone else feel that way???

LOL!!  Birdie I laugh everytime I see that commercial!!

I guess we New Yorkers are the late ones here on going back to school.  My oldest daughter graduated last year and my 16 year old will be going back after Labor Day.  Gosh it seems like the summer flew by this year!!

Thanks Donna!!  You have a good one too! :)

My two don't start back until after Labor Day also.  Can't believe I won't have one in elementary school.  My youngest starts middle school.  Any one remember when we use to call it Jr. high?  My older two head back to college on different days Labor Day weekend.  That is always fun.

Now we start the rush to finish up the yearly Dr. appointments and dentist.  Also try to have some more fun before the summer is over.  It really is too bad work always interferes with the rest of our lives.

I also hate the home work.  I gasp in horror over science projects.  After having four children I feel like I have gone through 3rd, 4th, 5th, grade five times.  Finally, they handle most of the homework themselves now.

I know the feeling about rushing home to watch DS.  I did it in the 60th's and now I rush home from work to watch it.  Yes, sometimes it gets me through the day.

Adra,
What grade are you in? Or are you in college? Just wondering :)

Yes, my family is trying to cram in all the things we wanted to do this summer but never got around to. Next week, we are going to visit the Titanic Exhibition in Cleveland (my choice) and an indoor waterpark (my sister's choice). We also might go horseback riding there.

In two weeks, we are going down to West Virginia to go whitewater rafting. My mom said we would go on an easy course, but I have just found out she signed us up for the 2nd craziest course there is! That will definately be an adventure.

Happy Weekend to everyone! My Saturday started out on a good note. I bought my Bruce Springsteen tickets for the Cincinnati show in November and got good seats :D :D :D. This afternoon I have nothing planned and I am loving it.
Tomorrow I go back to car shopping and that I am not loving very much. Thinking about a Sante Fe SUV. It got good reviews every where I checked and it is at a good price. Anyone out there have one??

I hear you Birdie.  I couldn't stand doing all that stuff either.  You know, when I was in grammar school (remember that one?) I remember distinctivly doing all these projects & big homework assignments myself.  My parents never had to help me with any of these things.  Usually a group of us kids would get together and help each other. Either that or my 3 sisters would help. After the 3rd grade though, my kids finally started doing these things on their own. :)

I didn't mean to knock school ....I meant it in the content that the summer is going way too fast.  The kids didn't get out here til the 20th of June.  Seems like they no sooner got out, it's time for them to go back.

My son is going into the 7th grade.  I don't know whose more excited about this adventure, me or him.  LOL

So far my weekend has been going good.  It's a quiet one so far.  Did a little yard work, going to my husbands 30th Class Reunion later today.  [hello]  Geeze, has it been 30 years already!!!! Oh my!  Mine is on the 24th too.   ;D

It's been a nice hot weekend, for the last 3 days, it's been 110 in Las Vegas. No chance of losing my suntan any time soon. I like the bronzed look. I had a birthday party for my 6 year old yesterday. Last night me, my daughter, her father, his grandson, and my Mom went to the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas. We watched the laser lights show with the music. It's great! I would never go down there on New Year's Eve though, too crowded! I stick to Las Vegas Boulevard, at least you can move. My Mom thought she was going to have to go back home today, but my dad said she can stay until Wednesday. At my daughter's school, they are having a little graduation ceremony on stage for the Kindergarten classes. August 14 is the last day of school. She starts 1st grade on August 26. We have 12 month school here. I hope everyone else is having a nice weekend!  :)

That was my fault, Donna... I'm the one that inferred I want my weekday "mommy time" back.  But as Connie reminded me (gee, thanks! ;)), the tradeoff is that it won't be long before I'm back in what I call *homework hell*.

Adra,
I will be a junior this fall. I am absolutely dreading it.  :P Everyone at my school says junior year is the hardest. There is one class, with one certain teacher, that I am taking this year that is going to be awful. (Trig) A girl who was in musical with me, who took the class last year, told me that she always gets straight A's, but she got a D on her Trig exam.  :o

I will be back to my old schedule where I never see the computer until the weekend. Plus, though I record DS, I often don't have any time to watch it.  >:(

You know what's weird?  Seeing all the "back to school" ads on TV and in the newspaper still makes me feel uneasy and pisses me off--and I graduated college in 1976!  I can't explain it--you'd think *I* was still expected back to books and teachers' dirty looks myself!

I'm happy for those parents delighted to see their angels returning to school and sorry for those who feel the summer has flown by.  Once my son started working at day camp, I knew the summer would be fleeting, as it always is.  LOL, he's complaining he can't wait for his sophomore year in college to start so he can sleep later!  He has to rise early now to get ready for camp.

Here's to cooler weather, anyway, although frigid winter can stay away FOREVER!

Love, Robin

Lindsey,

Don't worry.11th grade isn't as bad as people make it out to be.The people at my school told me the same thing, but I worked hard and made good grades. You'll be okay.:)

Adra

P.S...make room for DS in your daily schedule....you'll feel a whole lot better. :P
