The Classic Horror Film Board has announced it's annual list of nominees for the Rondo Awards: named after Rondo Hatton, the somewhat forgotten horror film star of the 1940s, the Rondos seek to acknowledge the best in horror & sci fi of the past year. People may vote via email, with winners announced online and awards given at the annual Monster Bash con in Pennsylvania.
Included in the current nomiees, announced today:
Dark Shadows: The Vampire Curse (Best DVD category)
Our own Penny Dreadful, a past winner (Best TV horror host category)
Jeff Thompson's career bio of Dan Curtis (best book category) I can't recall the book's exact title, which is absurd since I reviewed it favorably in 2 magazines!!!!!!!
Anyway, glad to see DS included in the list of nominess.
More info: www.ClassicHorrorFilmBoard.com and/or google Rondo Awards (I forgot the URL)

I just watched a couple more clips from Penny's recent Season Seven, and does that gal ever deserve an award!
Unlike the horror hosts of yore, her jokes are actually funny--AND she's sexier, too!

AND Penny has actually seen and loves the films she shows: she should win every year!

PS: Penny, dear, we have an AWFUL horror host show on KOFY TV here in SF~~two heavy metal dudes who like to crack old, stale T & A jokes.
SO not funny!
We need you and Shilling Shockers on KOFY TV!

I am honored and horrified to have been nominated again this year. Thanks for the kind words guys, and condraculations to all the nominees!

I understand what you mean, more so that you're embarrassed than horrified. But you shouldn't be either. Given the quality of your show, you most definitely deserve to be nominated every year that it's on.

The other night I tried watching Condemned to Live, a creaky but fun vampire cheapie from 1935 on Creepy KOFY Movie Time. It was so obvious that the heavy metal hosts had neither seen nor
wanted to see the film. I couldn't watch. I'm going to email KOFY and request Shilling Shockers. David
