A new year/board brings a new TVD topic, and here's the first new linked article: Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder on Elena vs. Katherine (http://www.tvguide.com/News/Vampire-Diaries-Somerhalder-1014271.aspx)
Enjoy.
(Warning: there is a slight spoiler - but nothing that regular viewers probably haven't already figured out is going to happen.)

Sorry this is coming late but I recorded TVD last night and didn't watch it until a little while ago. But anyway, the DS '04 pilot's Kelly Hu appeared in last night's ep, in all her 1864 finery, and I love the way they made her character not only significant in what happens in 1864, but also in the present.
Actually, watching last night's ep was once again like watching DS what with flashbacks to the past, mysterious journals, and, of course, digging up a grave in the middle of the night to find one of them. [snow_wink]
Anyone who might be interested can watch the ep online on the CW's Web site (once it becomes available in a day or so) or any number of other sites...
-
I was thinking of you last night MB! I knew our minds were in the same place. Digging up bodies, flashbacks, Kelly Hu, etc. It was great! It just makes me sad that our beloved DS didn't get picked up. I talked to another DS friend recently who loved the pilot! I hope I get to see it in LA this year. My luck they won't show it.
-
Kelly Hu is on again tonight - though not so far...
-
It's not coming back until March 25th?! Grrrr...
-
Yeah..I miss the days of Fox when they ordered 32 eps a year of 90210 and Melrose Place so there were no break but it's all good....22 is the standard. Hey how do you think I feel...90210 has been off since freaking November and not coming back till March 9! Luckily, The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Supernatural, 90210 and Smallville are looking at early pick ups being announced coming soon! :) The VD was off the hook again tonight...so DS....oh what the pilot could have been! [snow_sad]
-
so DS....oh what the pilot could have been! [snow_sad]
The makeup they used for Kelly Hu and the other vamps who were sealed in the tomb back in 1864 was reminiscent of the dessicated makeup they used for Barnabas in the '04 pilot when he's first released. I'm going to have to pay attention to see who does TVD special effects makeup. Maybe it's the same people who did the '04 pilot...
-
Todd McIntosh worked on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and also was the head of makeup on the pilot! I hope they show it this year at the Fest if I get to go! I checked out IMDB.com and he isn't involved in TVD!
-
Hey guys if you need to move this to TVD thread feel free. I couldn't find it! Today the CW officially picked it up along with Supernatural (YAY), 90210 (YAY) Top Model and Gossip Girl! :) I am very happy about the about TVD, Super, and 90210!
-
The older topic was on the same page as yours, lol. [snow_wink]
-
Sorry Midnite honey. I wrote you more in a message letting u know why I probably did that. I know it's not a big deal but I hate to cause you guys extra work!
-
It's not a problem. :-*
-
I don't think Todd is working on this series. So far as I know, he now works with Kristin Chenoweth. Great guy, though...
I am quite curious to see some of this--maybe I can find it on that website... (no TV here anymore...)
cheers, G.

Today the CW officially picked it up!
Excellent news! Though not all that surprising considering, as this article points out, TVD is the CW's most-watched show: Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and Gossip Girl Among Early CW Renewals (http://www.tvguide.com/News/Vampire-Diaries-Gossip-1015063.aspx)

Check out question #5: Mega Buzz (http://www.tvguide.com/News/MegaBuzz-Lost-Glee-1015069.aspx)

Thanks MB! Side Note: I cannot wait for the all Madonna Glee episode! I am gonna be in heaven and laughing till I die!

'Vampire Diaries': David Anders to do multi-episode arc (http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2010/02/vampire-diaries-david-anders-to-do-multi-episode-arc.html)
Sounds interesting...
Also, check out question #6: Mega Buzz (http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mega-Buzz-Scoop-1015363.aspx)
Very interesting...

Cool! Never really knew the guy until he did an episode of Charmed in Season Seven. He played a fabulous part! :) Thanks for the heads up!

Here are two tweets that the Krypton Site Official Twitter page made. I thought they were rather amusing!
Speaking about The Vampire Diaries they tweeted:
kryptonsite I wonder if Stefan & Damon ever crossed paths with Barnabas... or if Grams or Emily could hold their own against Angelique?
And concerning the Vampire History clips @ Paleyfest:
kryptonsite Before the Vampire Diaries #Paleyfest they showed a #Buffy clip. I actually expected them to show #DarkShadows as part of TV history.
Sad that the Paley Fest didn't include DS in their Vampire history clips! [snow_huh]
The Ksite is a site that is first and foremost devoted to Smallville but they also have threads etc. for other shows and they were all over DS 2004 when it was coming together. Apparently the site runner likes Dark Shadows. That is where I got all my DS 2004 information. I hadn't heard of this site back then. Thought you guys might be interested in those tweets!
Here is a link to the Kryptonsite's official Twitter Page if anyone care to follow them!
http://twitter.com/kryptonsite
Side note: I personally think Angelique would kick Grams & Emily's ass.
-
Perhaps they showed Buffy and not DS because Buffy made such a strong showing in their vampire poll last year.
And one thing's for sure: Ang would definitely kick Bonnie's ass. ;)
-
I can only assume that he's the one tweeting as kryptonsite, but Craig, the owner of KryptonSite, is a DS Forums member.
-
Check out question #2: Mega Buzz (http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mega-Buzz-Scoop-1016016.aspx)
Intriguing - especially the second part of the answer...

Check out: Vampire Diaries Scoop: Elena's Mama, Uncle John and the Tomb! (http://www.tvguide.com/News/Vampire-Diaries-Scoop-1016122.aspx)
I haven't read the entire article because there's a spoiler warning about key details about the finale being revealed, and I'd prefer to wait to see what's going to happen when I actually watch the finale. But if you're read the books (which I haven't) you might already be aware of some of what's going to take place because the link to the article on TV Guide's homepage says, "Finale will draw from books."
-
I will be staying away as well! I think spoilers have ruined ratings and tv but that is another topic! And Midnite...that Twitter account does belong to Craig. Cool that he is a DS fan! :)
-
A friend read the article and one thing he said was safe to share is that executive producer Julie Plec says that there are 9 "Oh my God" moments in he finale.
As for spoilers, I hate sites that ruin thing by not posting spoiler warnings. But even when they do, it can still ruin the surprise because so few people seem to stay away from them. There was a poll regarding reading spoilers on a site that I used to visit, and the vast majority of the people voted the option that said that they absolutely have to read spoilers so they can know what's coming before it happens. Huh? Whatever happened to enjoying the element of surprise?!
I'm just glad the original DS was on long before the world became spoiler crazy because no one ever knew what twist was around the corner or what character was going to be killed. It made for many thrilling days of edge of your seat viewing. That sort of excitement is lost on much of today's audiences. And no one can convince me that today's audiences are in any way the better for it. ::)
Now, something like Plec's remark is great because it doesn't ruin anything and it makes you want to watch. If only more spoilers were that unspecific...
-
Next week's issue of Entertainment Weekly awarded an A to TVD's March 25th return. Not that that should surprise fans. ;) And apparently we have "deliciously spooky" and "even juicier" plot developments to look forward to. Can't wait!
-
Awesome MB! :)
-
I was just recently alerted to this article on Entertainment Weekly's Web site: Scoop: 'Vampire Diaries' to end season 'with a bang' (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/03/07/vampire-diaries-spoilers-paleyfest/)
The supposed spoilers it contains aren't all that spoilery - plus it compares the show to DS. Well, duh - of course it's more DS than Twilight.
EW features TVD in it's Must List next week - but I'll wait until that comes up on the Web site before getting more into it...
-
They sure came up with quite a season ender. I thought the fire should have been the finale and was wondering what else they were going to do after that. Very exciting!
-
Here's a review of the finale that mentions DS:
Channel Surfing with CT: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, SUPERNATURAL, LOST & More! (http://www.dvrplayground.com/blog/entry/21169/Channel-Surfing-with-CT-THE-VAMPIRE-DIARIES-SUPERNATURAL-LOST-More/)
With thanks to jimbo. [ghost_grin]

Funny how that article doesn't even make any mention of one of the more interesting cliffhangers. [ghost_huh] (And if that writer had been paying attention, they would already know exactly what's going on with Tyler because several eps back it was telegraphed pretty clearly.)
At least Barnabas is spelled right - but it's Quentin not Quintin. Can't anyone get their DS facts correct? [ghost_rolleyes]
I was actually quite surprised that so many characters got killed off - as well as who a few of them were...

TVD and Supernatural both were off the chain good. I was more excited by Super because I am more invested at this point but I saw a few things coming with TVD and I didn't with Super. :) Good of the to mention DS even though it was spelled wrong!

TV Guide's Top Moments: The Truth Revealed on 24, Lost, and Vampire Diaries (http://www.tvguide.com/News/TopMoments-24-Lost-1018474.aspx)
Check out #8. Best Plot Seed.
And it just hit me today why a certain character was killed off in the finale. In TVD world, things exist to protect supernatural beings, even without their knowledge or the knowledge of their significant others. Now that a certain someone is gone, and his significant other is apparently clueless, a certain someone will no longer be protected from his true nature...
