Title: A for ABDUCTION
Post by: VAM on August 01, 2002, 03:24:45 AM
There must have been at least one or more abduction scenes in each storyline. Many of the major characters, from Angelique to David Collins, fell victim. Which scene was your favorite and why?

Ya know, when I think about it, I can't actually remember abduction scenes.  I just remember the scenes after the fact -- when the person is being held somewhere.  Do you know what I mean?  I can't remember actually SEEING the person being abducted.

BUT....one I DO remember is during the Leviathan lunacy...when Julia has been abducted by Jeb and Quentin goes to rescue her, and Jeb's goons come in and hold him while Jeb punches him and knocks him out.  Then they carry him into another room and put him in a coffin.  And then...well, you know the rest.  Oy...

WERE there few actual "abduction" scenes?  Or is my memory just totally gone?

-CLC   ?!?

I'm not quite sure if it's my fave, but one of the most memorable abductions (at least for me) was Gabriel and Daphne and 1840.  Yeah, we all knew he could walk by this point, but her reaction was great (pretty good scream). The next thing we know, he's got her badly tied up.

Lets see,  some of my favorites were:

1795 - When Trask abducts Vicky from the old house and then ties her to a tree to perform that phoney "exorcism" of his. I can still see picture him standing there and yelling out all that mumbo jumbo of his. [scrm]

1968 - Another "famous exorsicm" by The Rev. Trask was when he abducted Cassandra and attempted to exorcise her with another one of his famous mumbo jumbo speeches.  Funny thing is though, this one "actually" worked, (although not for long) ;)

1840 - Another favorite of mine was when Charles Dawson kidnapped Valerie (Angelique) because he & Gerard wanted to prevent her from testifying on Quentin's behalf. Since Angelique no longer had her powers anymore she had to rely on nothing but sheer courage & strength to outwit her abductor, which she suceeded in doing so wonderfully. :)

1970 PT - When Angelique learns of Julia's real identity she locks her up down in the Colliwood dungeon. That place was so dark and creepy looking and it seemed like she was down there forever until Barnabas FINALLY comes to her rescue.

Don't know how I forgot this one...

**spoilers**

Quentin's 1897 abduction by Aristede.  Quentin: shirt torn, face fixed (thank God), and strapped to the table, waiting for the pendulum to come down.  Very memorable, if only for that scene.

1841PT - Bramwell abducts Catherine from the front door of Collinwood.  He sternly demands that she come with him, saying "Please," but then he drags her to the Old House, locks her in a room with him, reminds her of their youhtful, loving past together, and seduces her on the brass bed in the room--which resulted in a pregnancy and greatly changed both their lives and the lives of those around them.  It was a wonderful scene, especially when Catherine admitted her love for Bramwell.

At least we were there for the afterglow. . .

Love, Robin

Another good one was when Count Pefofi was holding Barnabas prisoner in a coffin in 1897.  Beth tried to set him free and I believe it was Quentin who later freed him.

In 1970PT, Yaeger abdicts Maggie and keeps her hidden in run down farmhouse.  An excerise in obsession/perversion if there ever was one.  John Yaeger=creepy icky man.

In 1795, Noah Gifford abducts Daniel Collins. This is my favorite episode with Craig as Noah Gifford.  :)

Angie grabbed Barn's 'little soldier' ------- no, no, no, I don't mean that time in Martinique....I mean the wood toy she used to put the choke hold on him.

and it somtimes seems Jeff has been abducted by Aliens......maybe that's what happens to Adam, too! [then they erase everyone's memory of him....]

Ringo [jester]

yeah, Beavis, I said 'wood'! ;D

Angelique gives a new meaning to the word ABDUCTION as she kidnaps the toy soldier...

As usual I can't pick just one favorite. These have been mentioned but they are my personal favorites:

* Barnabas abducting Maggie in the 1967 storyline......this was one of the spookiest storylines.

SPOILERS BELOW FOR 1897, 1970 PT, AND 1840
*
*
*
*
*
*

* Count Petofi/Aristede abducting Julia in 1897

* Julia being abducted by Angelique in 1970 PT --- I thought it was very sad when Barnabas thought she was dead.....and how the camera focused on Julia when that episode ended....love the music played in those scenes.

* Gabriel abducting Daphne in 1840
