With all this extracurricular activity going on ::) I thought it might be nice to give Julia or Joe some wheels to get at there destination faster. Joking aside :P, It might be interesting to match you favorite character with a vehicle. We only saw cars in the beginning of the Series and sort of got an idea of the Collins' taste. Match up your favorite character(s) with a model and make of a vehicle. Joe Haskell looks the Ford truck type. While Angelique or Nicky Blair are behind the wheel of a Jag or Mercedes Roadster...Have fun!

Mrs. Johnson drives a 1965 Rambler American
Roger drives a Lincoln
Julia drives a 1964 Ford Fairlaine
Willie hitches rides
Barnabas drives a hearse
Carolyn drives a Pontiac Firebird
Vicki doesn't drive (doesn't understand the concept)
Can't leave out Quentin.
He drives a 1963 Corvette Split-Window Coupe

Not even a bicycle?

I don't think Willie hitched rides.....
I think he hot-wired them.

::)In keeping with his love of the past, Barnabas would probably drive a post-WWll Rolls Royce, assuming they were made at that time (I don't really know) or possibly a 194-something Packard which he keeps in mint condition---black, of course!
Misty, who wishes she had one of these cars right now!!

No, I think that was Harry Johnson before Carolyn hired him as the chauffeur. I could see Willie driving an El Dorado. Mrs. Johnson probably had a station wagon.
-
Didn't Harry Johnson drive a very cross Elizabeth to the Piggly-Wiggly in a 1949 Hudson in DRIVING MISS 'LIZBETH?
Oh, wait... different thing altogether. ;)
(As a bit of trivia, the '49 Hudson in DRIVING MISS DAISY belongs to my great uncle, who is a collector of antique cars. The Academy sent him a mock Oscar in 1990 for Best Supporting Automobile.)

Roger drives a Lincoln
is that after he wrecked the mustang? :'(
Julia drives a 1964 Ford Fairlaine
perfect! With a 454 big block. of course ;)
Willie hitches rides
or saves up for a "beater" ;)
Barnabas drives a hearse
somehow I still picture him being carted around the Collinwood Estate in a horse and carraige, with Willie at the helm, or being chauffered in a black Mercedes 500 class sedan 8)
Can't leave out Quentin.
course not!! [hello]
He drives a 1963 Corvette Split-Window Coupe
oh DROOL! My ultimate dreamcar! And with Quentin :-* at the wheel....
[jawdrp]......OMG..... I must be dreamin'!!

Nickolas Blair - A Mercedes Benz of course
Roger- Probably a cadillac
Mrs.Johnson- If she's lucky enough to even own a car, it's most likely to be an old one, a stationwagon at best.
Carolyn - A Camaro
Barnabas- why drive when you can fly?
Vicky - Since we see her driving occasionally on the show and judging from how crowded in she and Barnabas looked together in the car right before the accident, the only car that I could think of for her was a Volkswagon or a Pinto.

DREAM ON because I am the one next to Quentin at the wheel!

Actually we already know what Roger drives. It's a Mustang.
For some reason I always picture Julia in a Buick.

Whatever kind of vehicle Barnabas may drive, it is certain that he refers to it as a "horseless carriage"...

Umm...sorry ladies, but we ALL know I'M the one with Quentin.
:P
How else would I have a picture of the car?? Hmm?

I vote for Connie in the front seat. After all, the spectacle of seeing Quentin riding with a woman who wears a beard and sunglasses and carries a telephone around with her to call Julia at every opportunity is kinda priceless.

Hey Mark,
I want to know if she twisted your arm or what she promised you?

I don't think anyone mentioned one of my favorite totally impractical luxury cars - the Bentley. Given some of the personality types to inhabit Collinwood I could see more than one of these beauties in various hues smugly gleaming (moonbeams or sunbeams depending on current storyline) outside the old manor house. Possible owners would be Liz, Roger, Barnabas, or Nicholas. Now, Burke Devlin would have had the means to be a Bentley owner but being new money he would have no doubt chosen something a bit less sedate but still obviously expensive. I'm thinking a Porsche or Mercedes convertible. I can see Carolyn in a top of the line Mustang convertible, Maggie driving her father's beat up Olds Delta 88 (as she saves up for a Celica), Vicki in a little green Carmenghia and Willie chugging along in a cheesy little Corvair in need of a paint job (and wrecking ball). It wouldn't really matter what kind of car Jeff/Peter drove as long as it had a really big rearview mirror so he could check the hair every other mile or so. Julia would have something solid, practical and unassuming nothing specific is coming to mind but I think it would be either an Oldsmobile or Ford sedan. Finally, I can see Adam peddling furiously around the Old House on a gigantic Big Wheel making really loud engine noises and pretending to crash occasionally as he waits for Julia and the gang to finish putting all his mate's parts in the right places.
P.S. Please excuse me if some of these cars did not exist between 1966 and 1971 - my knowledge of cars is limited mostly to the ones I've owned and loved (Honda), been burned by (Corvair, Ford) and the few I've lusted after (Bentley, Mercedes - hey, if you're going to dream - dream [size=10]BIG![/size])[aprvy]

LOL!!!! Castlebee, I almost fell off my rocker from laughing so hard!! The funny thing is that I can actually picture him doing this too!! You're too much!! :)
-
Excellent choice, Castle Bee....but I think the only person on the show who had enough class to carry off the Bentley would have been Prof. Stokes.
Hubby and I have had everything from a Chevette to a Corvette (with Pick-up trucks and a MiniVan included) and the only car I ever lusted after was the black MGB I decided NOT to buy....proving you never regret the things you DO so much as the things you DON'T.

Oh, Mark! Now you've done it! You should have never have called her Constance! But, maybe in your case, she might make an exception.

....or as long as he was standing IN FRONT of it, any car model would be fine with me :P

you guys don't get Julia. . .she would have a 4-drawer luxury car, I mean she IS a doctor. . .I think a Chrysler New Yorker or a Mercedes sedan .. . it would be dark blue or grey, understated yes but mindful of the fact that she's got BUCKS!! I refer you all to her chestload of jewelry, many matching coats, purses and gloves. . . she was into accessories. . .

Hmmmm...the male variety!

Hey Connie, may I use your PHONE to make an appointment?
Well Mark,
You're certainly welcome to try, but I believe the conversation might be rather one-sided.
It seems Julia has succeeded in convincing the phone company to disconnect me.
