Oh, Annie, I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope things look up for you.
Keep in touch with your friends. I am the most unsociable person I know, but the last four jobs I've had were openings that I learned about from friends.
-
Yikes! Good luck to you, Annie!
-
Very sorry to hear this, Annie. A close friend of mine was laid off where I work. He's still looking for a job and it was four months ago. It's quite a haul.
Best of luck and I second Lydia's thought about getting out and seeing your friends. It will help with your morale if nothing else.

Dear Annie, I'm so sorry to hear this news! It seems like no one is safe from layoffs these days. I wish you all the best in the days to come.

So sorry to hear about this, Annie. I certainly will remember you all in my prayers. I hope you & your co-worker can find some work. A lot of people are turning to self-employment; it's an idea. Please keep us updated.

Annie,
I am sorry to hear about the job situation. [ghost_tongue]
It sucks, no doubt about it.

So sorry to hear this, Annie - the best of luck in finding something soon!

I'm sorry, Annie, that you lost your job. I know how you feel. Almost 3 years ago, I "retired" from the phone company after 25 years. I was living on the money I got from them until 1-1/2 years ago. I've been looking for a job ever since. It's tough to get a job nowadays. If I had known it would be so hard to find another job, I would have either NOT left my job or started searching for another job RIGHT AWAY instead of waiting. Good luck - I hope you can find another job soon.

I'm sorry to hear about your job Annie. 27 years is a long time to work in one place. I was laid off 3 years ago from a job I had worked at for 24 years. When I was let go it felt as if I was leaving family. It took about a week before I even came out of my bedroom. I guess a had a little touch of depression. I thought with all the kids in the job market who will want an old middle aged guy like me. It turns out I was very wrong. Many employers are looking for people like us with many years of experience. I've been at my new job almost 3 years now and love it. Some of the people I work with I feel as if I've known all my life. Chin up old girl there's better days ahead...

I'm so sorry, Annie. As ProfStokes said, it seems no one's safe from these types of things these days. May I suggest this? Instead of looking for a job in the same field as you were in or along those lines, rethink everything. What are your passions? What really appeals to you? Perhaps you can reinvent yourself and go in a completely different direction. Sometimes, we tend to have tunnel vision where our lives and careers are concerned. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this tough time.
-
Annie I am hoping your luck changes for the better and you secure a job you enjoy doing. Best of luck with your job search!

Damn. I'm so sorry. Good luck. You might want to check to see if there are any market research studies going on in your area. If you qualify (demographically) you can get some cash.
-
Sorry to hear this, Annie. Mercy, what a familiar situation... Hope you'll find something satisfactory very soon. Best of luck.
-
Take care of yourself and keep your spirits up as best you can. [ghost_sad]

I am so sorry to hear this. I hate what this economy is doing to everyone. I will keep you in my prayers that something good comes your way soon.
-
So sorry to hear this news Annie. I agree with Elmont though and was similarly encouraged by someone a year ago last spring when my job was about to fizzle out - there is a market for adults with experience. I also think having developed a strong work ethic over the years doesn't hurt us folk of a certain age either. [ghost_wink]
So hang it there girl...we're pulling for you! God bless you in your efforts!

Annie, I, Too, am so sorry to hear about your news, and especially after how long you and your friend worked there, I hope you find something else soon... [8_1_209]
