MPI home video, the company that brought us our favorite show and other rare series like THE DORIS DAY SHOW, is now set to release another hardly ever seen series, THE MOTHERS IN LAW. Many years ago this show was discussed on this board so i thought it should be announced that it will soon be available on dvd all 2 seasons of it. this show was on nbc in the late 60s produced by DESI ARNAZ years after he split from LUCY. the show is already available from a website called http://www.booths.ecrater.com but its most likely bootleg/poor quality like we suspect dvds from dvd planet are as also discussed on this board.

I also loved watching that show! It's one of the best comedies ever produced, yet somehow today generally unknown.

The show was hilarious. You can even hear Desi Arnaz laughing in the background sometimes.

The incomparable Miss Eve Arden co-starred with Kaye Ballard on the series.
Somewhere on the Net, there's a great page honoring Roger C. Carmel (of I, Mudd fame on a certain other 1960s cult series) which talks about his being fired from the Mothers in Law when he demanded a salary raise--very sad.
As we all know, DC pulled the same thing whenever actors sought raises on DS--both Robert Rodan and Lisa Richards found themselves written off the show after that "little talk" with Curtis.

The Mother's In Law used to crack me up as a child. It was one of the funniest shows ever. Kay Ballard reminded me of my own Italian heritage which made the show especially meaningful.

I remember the Mother In Laws but I was a real small kid like in 1st or 2nd grade. Does any one remember who the married couple was? For some reason, i thought it showed on a Sunday evening as I always got that got to go to school feeling watching it..the same one i still get on Sunday evenings getting ready to teach on Mondays. In any case, does anyone know who the couple was?

I also thought it aired Sunday nights, and doing a quick internet research it did say that it was, indeed, on Sunday nights between The Wonderful World of Disney and Bonanza, NBC hoping those two hit shows would garner bigger ratings for it. I remember Sunday nights as a kid, because it was always agony choosing between Disney and Lassie which aired opposite each other. I'd turn the knob (remember when TV's had knobs?) between the two until deciding which one would take my interest. If my brother was involved and he wanted to watch one and I the other we'd start pounding the you-know-what out of each other until our mother broke it up and wouldn't let us watch anything.
