I believe that they're the same thing, but jimmies is New Englandese.  I was wondering if anybody would say, "Huh?"

Strange, just today my little guy watches the PBS kid's show Arthur and they said that, referring to ice cream parlor toppings...(Think that show comes out of Boston).  I was wondering who the heck Jimmy was anyways? Jimmy Sprinkles I presume...
