Letterman used Donna McKechnie's name in a joke about Larry King Jr.
It got a big laugh

I'm curious to know why letterman would bring up Donna McKechnie. But this is the guy who spouts things like, "And on the back of the CD, you can see Linda Ronstadt's house! I'm in love with my cowboy hat!" No lie, that's a direct quote.

Anyway, she deflected a question about her opinion of Craig Nevius' lawsuit by running a joke into the ground while the doc sat frozen; it's hysterically weird. The show will repeat again tonite, tomorrow morning, and probably throughout the week. The CotW segment runs last.

I am not a particular KJ fan but I do think she was doing this on purpose. Mixing the person's last name with an adjective that indicates he is deceitful, underhanded, scheming, or conniving. But this is just my opinion.

(It sounds like she's hesitant to answer the question directly for fear of a slander suit, but found a way to say what she thinks about him anyway without getting herself in legal hot water, and d'oh Meredith for not picking up on it.) What they made fun of, which got emphasized by editing, was that her pun got less funny each time she said it.
