Those of you who don't have the DS Reunion DVD may want to check out this YouTube Video of Frid's 3/27/69 appearance on Merv Griffin (http://booksteveslibrary.blogspot.com/2009/05/blog-post.html). Though why the person who posted it chose to add the clip of Barn attacking Buffie Harrington is anyone's guess? The ep that clip comes from didn't even air until well over a year after the interview. ::) If they'd wanted to showcase a clip of Barn attacking someone, why not pick him attacking Sophie Baker in 1897? That clip would have been much more suited for what was happening on DS at the time of the interview.

That aired the day after my birthday, when I turned 12! Holy cow! I didn't see it because Merv Griffin wasn't carried on any of the channels in my area at that time (and those of you who are 175 years old like me will remember that most places had only three channels).

That was a real treasure to watch!
And for the record, I drink coffee too... that's right, coffee!!

Fantastic! Thanks so much for posting that, MB! It was really interesting to hear JF's take on the show while he was in the thick of it. And my goodness - I can't ever remember Merv Griffin looking that young. BTW, did anyone catch the name of the lovely blonde girl sitting between the host and Jonathan? She looks familiar.

Barbara Bouchet is the blond.

Thanks, MB, it's been a long time since I've seen that. Fascinating! I noticed a portrait of JF at about the 8:45 mark that looked incredible. Love to add that to my collection!

I didn't even realize that promo for NJN (though the less said about them, the better [ghost_angry]) was even part of the video - or the bumper. I have the Reunion DVD, so I didn't bother watching beyond the first few minutes just to make sure Frid's appearance was indeed from the 3/27/69 Merv. And BTW, those two things are not from the Reunion DVD. If I'm remembering correctly, the NJN promo is from DVD Collection 26. Off hand, though, I forget which DVD the bumper is on. Maybe someone else remembers?

Whatever happened to her? Whoever the hell she is. Painfully obvious that she recoiled from Mr. Frid when he attempted a "just for laughs" bite on her. Like he had three heads or something.
Old Man Frid, in any venue, is a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing.

I just saw this interview on DVD for the first time. I was surprised and pleased to see it, because I thought I had seen just about all of the special materials. I haven't purchased any of the "extra" DVDs, but the last set of the DS Collection, No. 26, includes two separate DVDs of extras, to round out the box set to four DVDs. The same disc includes Joan Bennett's interview on Merv Griffin, which was done shortly before Jonathan Frid's. Mr. Frid looked younger than he did on the show, for some reason. The interview shows how gracious and refined a man he seems always to be.

I have seen this on the DVD. However, it always annoys me that the woman doesn't sit in the second seat and Jonathan in the first. I know it probably wasn't proper to put a lady in the second seat in those days. I don't know why but it annoys me to death that he has to talk "over" her! Other than that it's a nice interview!

She's best remembered as Kelinda from Andromeda in the Star Trek episode "By Any Other Name and as Moneypenny in Casino Royale. Apparently she got tired of Hollywood. She's foreign born but grew up in the US. She moved to Europe and has had a long career there. She turned up a time or two in the US at autograph shows and conventions. She's still working according to IMDb. In addition to Trek and the Bond film, she also did episodic TV here before leaving.

Thanks for the info, The Doctor and K9. [snow_smiley]
Not surprisingly, I see the video the first post in this topic linked to has been taken down from YouTube. I was going to refresh my memory of Frid's appearance, but I suppose the only way I'll do that is to pull out the Reunion DVD...
