Title: New DS-Type Show
Post by: DrJulia on July 02, 2002, 12:47:09 AM
I need some suggestions for a new "show" that I am doing (in my house with family and friends, using a camcorder and computer). Any are welcome, but I especially want ideas for a title. ?!? Updates as pre-production continues.

I always thought it would be cool for a bunch of DS-lovers to actually film a favorite episode or scene verbatim.  It would be an interesting experiment in drama and filmmaking -- and not to mention a lot of fun!  :D

Sorry I didn't directly answer your question, Dr. J.  :(

Thanks, jthomas. That's a good one. What about "Beyond 1246"?

Maybe you should do it from your own POV as you arrive at Collinwood - in 2002.  What would you find, who would be there, what would be going on now?

OR, what happened after the final scene right after everyone exited the drawing room?

Then again, there's always.......

Sorry, couldn't resist.  ;D Of course, if you were going for a comedy this might be a direction to take too...

Dear CastleBee,

Merely the greatest Dark Shadows posting of all time!!!  Kudos, felicitations and "mega-dittoes" for the most hilarious and wackily-inspired DS photo of this or any future millennium!

Sincerely,

Bob the Bartender, who's getting "Jersey shore" disco fever just looking at Dark Shadows' answer to John Travolta and Karen Gorney!

Castlebee, I completely concur with Bob.....probably the funniest photo ever posted. [lghy]

Have you had that idea in your head, just waiting for someone to give you a plausable excuse?.....or did that just now come to you out of the Heaven of Hilarious Ideas?

Or was it really Vampuppy's idea?  ;)

I won't presume to answer for CastleBee, but I will say that she's quite the talent when it comes to putting these things together - which is why two of her masterpieces from our VantageNet days were uploaded to the Members' Archive this past weekend. :)

Assuming the show will be a talk-show format...... [anyone remember the time Dave Letterman sub'ed on the show?]
....some titles could be:

The LATE show

Collinsport After Dark [with Hugh Hefner]

Bite Line [with Ted Koppel] [haven't I used that before, too?]

Crossing Over ...into Parallel Time [I'm sure J. E.'s 15 minutes are just about over!] [what ever happened to Auntie Foundling?]

If it is a game show:

'What's In The Box' - hosted by Count Petofi

'Name That Tune' - hosted by Sarah Collins [only lasts one episode]

'I've Got A Secret' - the entire town could be on!

'You Bet Your Life' - loser gets a stake! [or dinner at the Russian Tea room]

or my current Fave: Will It Float?  - from the bottom of Widow's Hill

I am available to be 'musical director'!

hope this helps! [jester]

Great pic, Castlebee. It brightened up my day. Maybe if the show goes into PT we could do that! ;D
Some great ideas, RingoC. Helpful and amusing.

For those of you giving show ideas (p.s.-thanx) please remember that it will be some name similar- Callanwind or something. Don't want to get a mad letter from dear Mr. Curtis.

Okay, I'm almost done developing the first storyline. Ghosts, time travel, hypnotism, it has it all!  8)
Here goes:
Francis Callan, the young teen who comes to Collinwood, finds a letter written by his long-lost GreatGrandpa on the day he died. A PS at the bottom of the letter says "No one but you, my wife, must read this." The letter disappears into thin air and Callanwind (the ancestral house) floods. Francis is engulfed by the waves and passes out. He wakes up on the shore of a beach and looks out to the water to see Callanwind sink to the bottom!! He is summoned to the past by a mysterious spirit who tells him that he must stop his greatgrandpa from writing that letter. He succeeds and goes back to the present. More to follow.

Okay, here's the rest of the first storyline. He stops his greatgrandpa from writing the letter and goes back to the future to find Callanwind abandoned, in ruined shambles. :o So Francis talks to the spirit, who sends him back to the 1960s, saying that all will be revealed. He gets there and finds a party in progress at Callanwind. He asks why. A young man tells him that the family is leaving the haunted old home. Francis goes back into the future, summons the ghost of his mother out of a ragged portrait in his room, and goes to the 60s with her. A hypnotism expert, she performs an eerie mass hypnotism on the people of Callanwind to make them stay. Francis and his mother go back to the present where all is well. They have a teary goodbye as she goes back into the land of the dead.

Dr. J,
Maybe you could start out the first tape with you and your friends visiting Collinwood. Have a seance
(I'm sure I misspelled that). Then go from there.

Castlebee-that picture was a hoot! ;D
