Title: HODS question
Post by: Bj on June 20, 2002, 08:39:11 AM
There's a line of dialogue by Barnabas I can't understand on the tape I have.  He's just bitten Carolyn for the second (and last) time in the "old house", and then he says to Willy:

"Get her out, Willy.  <can't understand what he shouts>. Get her out!"

Little things like this just spoil everything for me  :)

Daphne,

If you haven't already, you should check out the DSO HODS CHAT transcript in the Members' Archive. There are some funny comments about that scene (including the reason why Barnabas won't even allow himself to be in that room). [wink2]

How does one access that? Can you provide a link?

IMO, what makes HODS work is that Barnabas is completely (well, almost with the exception toward his beloved Josette) evil, none of this sympathy-garnering goopishness he evokes in the series.  It's not that I'm against the goopishness in the series, just that I'm glad it was left out of the movie.

If it's true that D. Curtis only intended Barnabas to stick around a few weeks in the series, would his character have resorted to being a sympathetic one?

BTW, Darren, did you check your own tape or a copy of the script for your answer?  ;)

From memory. ;)

Can someone please post the link to the above mentioned thing. It's gotten ignored somehow...

Darren, MB is going to be responding to your query.  One holdup is that photos are still being uploaded to it, but I promise that it's not being ignored and I apologize for not mentioning this sooner.  :-[

Great! Thanks. It just seemed odd as the moderators usually respond very quickly....I'll keep my eyes peeled. :o

That was my fault, Darren.  :-[  After I'd  posted the HODS CHAT transcript I got the idea that reading it would be more fun if there were screen captures to go along with it. I thought adding them would be really easy, but it took me forever to space the captures so they'd relate to what was being said in the transcript.  :-/ But I think it turned out well enough that someone reading it doesn't also have to be watching hoDS to really understand what was going on.

Hopefully you'll enjoy it all once you get to see it. It was a lot of fun when we did it.  :D

In a similar "vein" (BLAH!) is there any interest by the wabbit in releasing HODS and NODS as they currently are on DVD, sans restoration?  Widescreen DVD would still be better than the current VHS.

No, there isn't.
