Same to you, Annie, and to everyone else here!
I went to buy trick-or-treat candy yesterday, going to several stores and coming up dry. In many, not only was there no Halloween candy, there were no Halloween costumes, decorations, etc. Guess what was up already? You guessed it! Ho-ho-ho instead of boo! I finally got some candy at Walgreens (which still had Halloween stuff around and for sale - they better get with the game like the other stores, or else they won't be able to put up all the Valentine's Day stuff on December 23).

Ok, I'm a little late replying! Hope everyone had a super Halloween! We have lived in this apartment for 6 years and have NEVER had even ONE trick or treater! But hubby and I watched a marathon of The Beginning DS...good stuff! [dancing_skeletons]

Mine either. I did not see a single trick or treater in my development. That was a good thing because I didn't buy any candy this year as I didn't have a single visitor last year.
Maybe the kids know that I walk with vampires and choose not to come near me? [hall2_shocked]

We stayed home this year. There were 29 trick-or-treaters, many more than last time. [cheer] I was pleased, because we only had about 5 kids the last time we stayed home, 2 or 3 years ago. The cutest kid was a little girl who was about 18 months old and dressed as Pebbles on The Flintstones. [hall2_grin]

This year I had tons of kids ringing that doorbell and went through almost three bags of candy. Even parents walking with their kids were often in the fun, being dressed up themselves. What a difference from last year: not a one, a single one, the whole time. Probably what made the difference was the trick-or-treat scheduling. Usually, it's on the Sunday closest to Halloween, from three to five in the afternoon. This year, they had it (for the first time that I can remember since moving back here) on Halloween itself, from five to seven. I imagine because the spookfest fell on a Friday this year (and there was no school - teachers' convention, to which no teacher I know has ever gone; which teacher is going to give up a four-day weekend [it starts on Thursday and lasts until Sunday in Madison]?) and the weather was gorgeous: dry and in the sixties. So, around here, it's either feast or famine when it comes to Halloween fun.

Huh? Trick or treat scheduling? Three to five in the afternoon on the Sunday closest to Halloween? Who dictates this? Who tells the rest of the world? Nobody tells me anything. I just figure from 5pm to 9pm on Halloween I'd better be ready to hand out candy.
