Legendary Oscar winner Paul Newman has died of cancer at age 83.
In a 1980s interview, KL Scott said that the DS cast had received a lovely fan letter from Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward while the show was in production.
RIP to one of the greats.

Wow!!! Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward fans of DS?
I cannot believe that a letter from them would've been 'filed in the circular file'.
Does anyone know where something precious as this might be?
Thanks for the info David!

Great actor above all. And he was a fine man as well! :) Check out his pictures in those younger days. I love to watch his old movies on TCM! I love some Old Hollywood Men! So regal and handsome! Blessed Be Paul!

I know I have that interview with Kathryn somewhere!
I'll be seeing Kathryn in a little over 2 weeks when she appears at the Castro Theatre here in SF~~I'm going to ask her about that letter!

PLEASE let us know what TLATKLS says. I am sure it will be a great story. I think about a lot of stuff, wondering what happend to it and how it would be worth so much today if they had held onto it. Like Maggie's
mother's painting in the early episodes, or the Betty Hanscombe painting! Or the Phoenix Portrait was it really destroyed??
Always enjoy your post David! :0)

There's a little bit of "6 degrees of DS" trivia also: Paul Newman became good friends with Robert Redford, who had also been a friend of John Karlen's. (RR was best man at JK's 1963 wedding.)

Wow! I did not know that Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were fans of DS! That's great! [ghost_cheesy]
I was so sad to hear that he died. [ghost_sad] RIP Paul Newman, you will be missed.

On this week's episode of Nancy For Frank on Sirius Satellite
Radio, Nancy Sinatra paid a lovely homage to Paul Newman.
She played the theme to The Sting, then shared her personal memories of visiting the Newman/Woodward
home with her Dad.
Nancy recalled how "the boys" would shoot pool, while
Joanne Woodward would work on her knitting.
Nancy called Newman a "dear friend" who she'll miss.
Then she spun the theme to The Honeymooners.
Sniffle......
