Title: DS MOVIES RESTORATION RADIO INTERVIEW TODAY! FRIDAY AT 4PM!
Post by: Darren Gross on June 11, 2002, 05:08:17 AM
Hi folks.

Today the 21st, I'll be appearing on a Florida radio station program to discuss the restorations of HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS  and  NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS.

It will be happening at 7PM Eastern Time, 4 PM Pacific Time on Friday.

The station is WWNN station 1470 from Florida.

It can also be heard on the web at:

Interstellar Transmissions RADIO INTERVIEW site  (http://www.interstellartransmissions.com)

It'll only be available live, as there is no archiving of previous broadcasts!

Should be lots of fun. Check it out!

Kicking this back to the top...

Friday June 21st is the date.

The name of the radio show is 'Interstellar Transmissions' and it runs for an hour- 7-8PM ET, or 4-5PM ET. I believe the interview with me takes up the first half hour, so tune in via web!

Darren,

caught the webcast; interesting to hear the voice behind "the name"  ;)  Aside from your segment, I sure was painfully reminded why I no longer listen to AM radio  :P   (Also, since your segment was pre-recorded, there will be an archive that listeners can download if they missed it)

Have you tried starting a petition to get the Wabbit to restore NODS?  Maybe you could distribute it at the convention?  You'd think with all the conventions, DS video tapes, and new collections on DVD coming out, the "suits" who have their heads stuck in a rabbit hole (i.e., their a$$) would finally see the light?  ::)

Hi BJ.
Glad you liked it.

Haven't heard it yet. Had to pre-tape it on Monday, as my work schedule conflicted with the live broadcast time.

Yeah, apparently they have a downloadable version of the week's previous show available for listening. I don't think it's up yet, but it should be soon. It will only be available for a week though, and will be replaced by next week's.

As for a petition, I find they're incredibly ineffective when it comes to video labels, and especially Warner. The 2000 or so names I could get at a convention would mean nothing to them. The studio is well aware that the fans are interested in it, they don't think that a mainstream buying public is interested in the title to cause enough sales for them to think it's worthwhile. It's especially worse these days because online petitions have become ubiquitous and their value incredibly reduced.

The closest we've come is recommending that people request for TCM to broadcast the restored version. The idea here is to create awareness of the existence of this version, and show that there is a TV audience for it. Unlike the video division, the TCM division specifically ask for viewer requests and suggestions which get filtered through the right people.
