Title: African-American DS Casting

I also got the idea for this thread while looking at the Movie Cast Ideas. If an African-American remake of DS was done (I'm aware that it's incredibly unlikely; that's why this is on the Games board), what actors would you choose?

Barnabas - Will Smith (probably because of the ears)
Elizabeth - Alfre Woodard or Jasmine Guy
Julia - Whoopi Goldberg (don't ask me why, because I don't know)
Maggie - Keyshia Knight-Pulliam
Carolyn: Gabrielle Union

Roger Collins - Sherman Helmsley (i.e., George Jefferson).

I'm kidding again, of course!  But then again, couldn't you just see Marla Gibbs, who played the maid Florence Johnston, playing Mrs. Johnson?

Sidney Poitier as Barnabas?   I'd suggest Brock Peters, as whom I'm not sure, but he just passed recently, RIP....  I think Will Smith gets strange starring roles because he's big now, not because they suit him.   Men In Black was perfect though.   Avery Brooks?

Barnabus : Jessie Martin from Law and Order. He is gorgeous

Willie : Eddie Griffin

Maggie : Gabrielle Union

Elizabeth : Phyllis Rashad from the Cosby Show

I like Jesse Martin as Barnabas. IMO Will Smith would make a better Quentin.

Also like the suggestions for James Earl Jones as Professor Stokes and Phyllils Rashad as Elizabeth.

I say Angela Bassett as Julia. 

And we need to get CCH Pounder in the cast!

And I say Taye Diggs plays Quentin.  Oh yeah. . let me go ponder that for more than a moment or two.

might i add that I mentioned before Sam Hall suggested to DC that Iman play Angelique in the 90s revival.
