We are doing so well that I can even see us passing up Star Trek the original series. We must have a whole lot of Dark Shadows fans out there? [ghost_smiley]
There are a surprising number of original DS fans out there, the ones (just a little older than your faithful Tallymister, who watched the original run from behind the couch as a little boy) who all tell the "ran home from school to watch" story. Seriously. Also, in terms of the Poll, Dark Shadows has a lot of friends in the Top 40 who have helped it advance, including voters from: Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Babylon 5, and Blood Ties. Any voting help you'd care to give those shows (you can vote for as many as you'd like) would be quite neighborly. The poll will end when the combined totals of the Nominations and Top 40 Polls reach 10 million votes, but no sooner than January 2, 2009. Currently, it appears that about 40 days remain before the Polls close.
Dark Shadows held the line on TV Vote, yesterday, with the same number of daily votes as the previous day! We should see a breakthrough in our target date to pass H2H, soon!

I'm doing my voting now, and plan on doing it every day. I'm voting primarily for DS, but I'm also voting for Joss Whedon's shows and Northern Exposure, as I love them, too.

Right now Moonlight is trying to get into the top 40. So they could be your one vote in the nominations.

Well, the log-jam broke (I would like to claim at least a little credit for my fellow Browncoats; I sent out another mass-Wave on the Cortex, yesterday, requesting their help with TV Vote), and DS got 401 votes! DS will go offroad, tomorrow, as we leave the Highway to Heaven behind us, and take a Star Trek!

Not a werewolf, "Looking like a slightly shaggy, slightly hunchbacked human, Zathras was prone to deadpan delivery of somewhat cryptic, somewhat humorous, generally self-pitying statements such as ("Zathras is used to being beast of burden to other people's needs. just an f.y.i. to those involved...
i just tried to vote for the first time in several months and of course got the "we're sorry!" announcement.
that's why i stopped trying in the first place.i would have voted for d.s. many,many times but 90% of the time i tried was unable too.
that's a pretty major glitch.

I'm very sorry you had those difficulties. Are you using AOL? That is the single most common cause of the problem you describe. For reasons to do with the way AOL "saves" previous browses, rather than redirecting you to a fresh TV Vote (or other active) screen, the new visit isn't really to a new vote, but to your previous one, which is why it doesn't go through. Changing to most any other browser, and refreshing your page when you see the error message should solve that problem, with few exceptions. To quote an experienced troubleshooter:
"Your pc will store cache images of
all the various sites you visit. If you search for a site that is in
your cache, IE will just re-display the last image from your cache.
So, your exit and re-try, you are only talking to your local cache,
you are not really talking to the TVVOTE server. Only by asking for a
'refresh', will your browser re-query the source site, in this case
the TVVOTE server, for the latest information. "
Thanks for at least trying, again and I hope that this information will enable you to join us in getting Dark Shadows past 150k!

Dark Shadows has fallen behind schedule to pass ST:OS on TV Vote, as we experienced a substantial drop in votes, yesterday. We really don't need to stay ahead of ST:OS by much, only about 57 daily votes, just 23 more than we had over them, yesterday. However, between their increased votes, and our dropoff, that is going to be a challenge. I have renewed my requests of our voting partners for increased help achieving our final goals. However, our success should ride primarily on our own efforts, with any assistance from our friends considered only supplemental.

Dark Shadows not only got a stand-alone banner on TV Vote, today, it also advanced tremendously on ST:OS!
Of all the Top 400 shows, only two actually increased their votes over the previous day, yesterday: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Dark Shadows. Everyone else's votes fell, often precipitously. I want to thank Lori for putting the banners out there where I can make sure they get in front of all the folks who might like to see 'em. In fact, got yet another Browncoat pledge to support DS, just today, and I'm sure the banners helped remind them of how much Dark Shadows voters have helped Firefly.

The problem that I was having the other day was that the ds board would go to a white screen and no further. That was at home but at work where I am now there is no problem. I don't know?? ?? I even tried a different browser. [ghost_sad] Other than that I'm so happy that we are the new #23 of the top 40. [ghost_cheesy]

I dunno what a white screen indicates, JS, if there's no error message. Refreshing your browser, and avoiding AOL like a vampire avoids Italian food, are the only remedies I know of, for sure. Might've been some kind of external issue. Glad you're back!

Many thanks from the Firefly Browncoats for the help of the Dark Shadows voters; our triumph, 750,000 votes, is your triumph, as well. We couldn't have done it without you! Dark Shadows voters have made a HUGE contribution to Firefly. Assuming a modest 30 votes per day (which is just the numbers I know I can confirm), that's 900 votes per month, which, since we started working together in September, comes easily to around 10,000 votes. We made it to another banner, 150,000 votes and here's Barnabas to prove it. We share it with another vampire show, Moonlight, which I frankly enjoyed tremendously... and they canceled.... the bums!

I'm glad to get my votes in for DS and my other favorite shows. Granted, I find some of the top 40 a bit strange (where's Twin Peaks? My So-Called Life? Dead Like Me? And especially classics like I Love Lucy?), but still, I'll be voting for DS as often as I get the chance to. [banana2] [ghost_tongue2]

[cheer] Participating in the vote has become such an hourly ritual for me, and it's been a fun ride. It will be ALMOST bittersweet to surpass ST Voyager, which I enjoy almost as much as DS. [cheerleader]

Well the poll is finally done. I didn't vote every hour, or every day but did put in quite a few over the last few months.
The site is down now as they put together final totals, etc. It'll be interesting to see if DS did manage to eclipse Star Trek: Voyager.

I'm glad Dark Shadows made it on, though I question how good a list that includes Blood Ties (not a bad show, but not a particularly good one, either, IMHO) but not I Love Lucy or many other truly classic series. I do consider myself somewhat a Browncoat, but I don't think Firefly deserves to be called the best TV show ever made. However, I'm going off-topic. DS FTW.

One of the things that it measures if Fan Power. The Browncoats are reallly fans.
They sure helped us get where we are in the poll. Also many Browncoats began wating
Dark Shadows.

So really, it's not which 40 TV series are the best, it's which 40 have the most dedicated online fanbases. Not to say that Dark Shadows doesn't deserve to be inlcuded on a Top 40 Best Shows Ever list; it does.
