Over at alt.tv.dark_shadows someone thought of making a Monopoly game with a Dark Shadows theme. I borrowed their idea and drew a game board and accessories based on Dark Shadows. This is just a first draft so I'm open to suggestions for improvement.

Bones, this is fabulous! I'm still laughing. Is there a coffin game piece? Better go have another peak. Dawn 8)

ROTFL!!! that's sooo kewl!!! I wish I were that creative!
-
Thank you for the link Mr. Bones. That is some pretty good work there!
-
Wow Bones, that was great. You people amaze me.
-
Very cute -- have you thought about making an actual version of the game, maybe adapting an existing Monopoly board?
-
Cool wish i was that creative too!

This is great!!! I got a huge kick out of everything, particularly the "candle tax" and the I-Ching cards.
Only thing I would change--Petofi instead of Ptofi.
Stuart is so right, you should definitely think about making one of these up.

With all the new versions of Monopoly out there this looks like something that may actually sell! Whoever came up with it, should try to find a manufacturer. I'd probably buy a copy of it myself. Thanks for sharing! Love it!!! ;D

I know I would buy a copy of it. My family would insist on it. We play the Dark Shadows board games from the 60's. A Dark Shadows Monopoly game is a neat idea! I bet that would sell in the dealers room at the Festival. I have a couple of suggestions. On the game board where it says WOODS, change that to LIMBO WOODS. For the game tokens, Barnabas' Cane, correct the spelling of Barnabas. Otherwise, it's great, very creative! :)

Oh my God Mr. Bones this is too cool!!!
I do think the Old House should be more than $350, though ;)
-
WHAT A GREAT IDEA MR BONES !!!
This has marketbility (sp) possibilities !!
I would buy it if it were to be put out in the market to buy. :)
-
WOW! :o
I would trade this for my lame Monopoly Golf game in a heartbeat!
-
Wow! What a wonderful and creative idea! I wish it was on the market, I'd buy it today!! Loved it!! :)
-
Loved it, especially the playing pieces. I could see that on my game shelf We would have to fight on what version to play, DS, Star Wars, Disney... That is if we ever really had the time to play.

Okay, I've gone back and corrected all my spelling errors. Did anybody notice any plot/description errors in the i-ching and hand box cards or errors in the location descriptions on the board? I have seen all the episodes but the details are kind of fuzzy.
I hadn't planned to make an actual game out of it but a few people seem interested so maybe I will give it a try. I think it would be a huge hassle to try to get it manufactured. I think you'd have to get Dan Curtis' and Parker Bros' permission and hire a legion of lawyers and accountants.
Craig Slocum, I haven't heard of the woods being referred to as the limbo woods. Is that something I've missed or is it just your own personal description?

I could be very wrong about this, but I think you would just have to worry about DCP. For some reason, I seem to recall reading that the patent on Monopoly had expired.

The Limbo Woods were near the graveyard. That's what they are called in the original Dark Shadows scripts.
-
I would buy it in a second :D

I think that it is an interesting idea for sure. However I have designed a few games myself and it is difficult to find companies to back your idea. Doing all of the work yourself is quite a huge undertaking and it is expensive. You can see that less than one person in ten is even responding to this message and out of them how many would actually buy the product? There are a lot of DS fans out there but again it is a question of how much can you sell. I happen to be one of the people who would buy this game by the way and to me it is an excellent idea but I would tell you right now that I am a DS freak and I am not sure how many of us there are out there. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

I think the idea for the game is fantastic, and if it existed, I would definitely buy it. Then the only trouble would be convincing somebody to play it with me.
