Jonathan has been trying to get rid of stuff he doesn't want for a long time. He discovered he has DS stuff and was talked into selling it rather than simply throw it out. Proceeds go towards maintenance of the website at http://www.jonathanfrid.com. So check out what Jonathan is looking to get rid of at his ebay store.

Wow, thanks for the heads up!
Frid's personal script from HODS with his own handwritten notes is already up tp $405 with more than 9 days left!
This is going to be interesting :)
-
Wow this is really something, JF on EBAY, that is a trip, but it is interesting that there have to be some fans with disposable income if they can bid 400 dollars for Jf's HODS script---will Jonathan donate some of the proceeds to charity???
-
Well, as Nancy said. proceeds from these auctions will go towards maintenance of jonathanfrid.com. And as anyone who pays for/maintains their own Web site knows, it can often be an expensive endeavour. ;) And if people want to pay ridiculous amounts of money for any items being offered on eBay, so much the better for the seller, no matter who he/she may be...
-
It is at $560 US, I think it is great that he can raise as much as he can. I really do appreciate his website. All power to him. I like the way that he shows that it really is his, with the cane and a picture of his profile from the back and side of the head.
;D

The webmaster is the big expense but certainly a worthwhile expense. Still, it's better than simply throwing the stuff out when somebody will pay for the collectibles JF wants to get rid of. Once I saw a poster for the 1931 Frankenstein (poster was made in 1931) for sale on ebay for something like $8,000 or more. I think it was a lot more but I don't remember. I do remember being stunned that someone would pay that much money for it but, hey, if you have the disposable income, knock yourself out spending money on a much desired item!

Something tells me anyone who has their own not for profit Web site would quickly admit it's a labor of love, whether they handle the work themselves or they have hired help. That's certainly how we feel about this site. :)
-
My mistake, I missed the mention that proceed's from Jonathan's Ebay sales would go towards his website expenses, that is a worthwhile use of the funds, too, as you know we all love JF's site..
-
Very true. JF has spend thousands of dollars in the creation/maintenance of that website. It's a hobby and a way to share things he enjoys with fans. Some retired people join country clubs, play golf, play bridge or travel; Frid has a website.

I haven't checked today to see what it's up to, but I remember a few years back, a fan paid over $10,000 at a fest auction for the Barnabas portrait. I was amazed that someone would spend that much, but hey, if it meant that much to her, why not? I'm sure this script will go for more than $1,000, which would help defray the website costs. That would be great!
-
Already at $1,02, I wonder how much more stuff JF has? Long live the website.
-
JF has at least four original DS scripts (from the series) with his notes on the pages. He's got some other things too but I think the original scripts with his ink markings are the biggest potential attraction. Nancy

Those sure would be a huge attraction. Is he going to auction those off, too? Makes me wish I'd win the lottery! Oh, wait -- I wish that anyway -- LOL!
-
Anyone know how much that HODS script finally went for? I forgot to go back and check. I'm sure it wasn't chump change!!
-
I don't know how to find out. I would be interested also. It is great that JF is doing some summer cleaning.
-
I believe it was around $1300.

Whoa! If that's any indication of how all the auctions played out, on second thought, maybe Frid might want to donate some of the proceeds to charity - if only to defray some of the tax he'll have to pay. After all, he will be declaring it as income, right? [wink2]

Here is the link to the auction for anyone who is curious how it went:
Jonathan's own script for "The House of Dark Shadows" (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260127207164&rd=1&rd=1)
Hope I'm allowed to post that...

You sure are. :)

It popped up for a moment and then it went to the new items. It said only the buyer or seller could look at it.
-
The final results are under the "Similar items from all eBay sellers" list. :)

jennifer, 3/4 down that page is: "An eBay Store maintained by: fridiculous" Using the seller's link while signed in to ebay brings up a page with a Contact member option.
