Not exactly supernatural and not exactly DS-related except that it involves a soap incorporating some interesting new elements:

I'm waiting for Wonder Woman to show up on another soap. [hall2_grin]

Oh for God's sake! If I didn't think Soaps were moronic before, this CLINCHES the deal! [hall2_rolleyes]

Yes, but we *expect* over the top stuff from this show, a 'regular' soap should be more reality based, IMHO anyway. ;)

I bet that's what some people at ABC said when DS jumped the line. [hall_wink]

I think you are right, though a lot of soaps DO incorporate the supernatural (probably as a result of the influence of DS). General Hospital has Luke & Scorpio stopping the world from being frozen by the evil Cassadine's weather machine, and little Robin met an alien from Lumina; One LIfe To Live had the character Luna, who was psychic; Days of Our Lives has the evil DiMearas who regularly cause psychic havoc, and Marlena, who was once possessed by the devil--complete with levitation!; and Young & Restless often has ghosts, like Cassie Newman or John Abbott who appear to give advice. And we can't forget Passions, which is replete with witches, warlocks, and "the boys in the basement"! Soaps have changed--and DS showed them the way. .....and yes, I admit to being a soap freak...totally uncloseted! [hall2_wink]

One Life to Live has had Vicki go to Heaven; Clint and Vicki went back to 1888, where some cast members played their ancestors; the underground city of "Eterna"; Vicki also had a guardian angel named Virgil appearing now and then.
General Hospital has had Edward Quartermain as a ghost and then he turned up alive and they ignored the two years he was a ghost!
Then there's the kid aging trick which hasn't ever gone out of style, and DS never used that one.

Wow... it sounds as if not a day goes by that DS doesn't come up in meetings on what to do with the plots of these shows.
Soaps ought to be wacky as all get-out. People should die in car crashes then come back the next day with flat heads green skin and bolts in their necks. Their coworkers should say, "Something seems different about you Clyde" and Clyde says, "It's my new deodorant!"

Don't forget, Joey, those Leviathan brats (Alexander and Michael) shot through puberty within months. Viva Jeb!
