Title: Another DS Actor's Birthday, Maybe Long Forgotten
Post by: Jackie on October 15, 2006, 03:54:05 AM
Anyone remember Tom Harper?  He played Jeremy Grimes in 1840 and appeared in 4 episodes:  1163 1167 1184 1185  His acting career can be found on http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0361621/

I made a collage to honor a minor character but a big heart.  Happy Birthday, Tom Harper [October 15th]

Umm . . . I believe the gentleman's name is Tom Happer, not Tom Harper.  [hall_undecided]

Oh how embarrassing!!!   [hall2_shocked]  You're right.  Thanks.  I guess NO ONE is going to remember him now since there wasn't a Harper on the show, was there?

I did it over but I don't think I can't modify the first message.

About two years ago, a good friend of mine sent out a mass emailing and forgot to hide everyone's emails.
At the time, I had an online petition going, trying to keep the WB DS pilot afloat.
So I replied to everyone:
"what the hell, as long as I have Chele's entire email list, is anyone out there a DS fan? I have this petition......"

Three responded, two because they were DS fans.
The third was Tom Happer's ex~wife!!!
They are still close friends.
He's in Vermont & long gone from show biz.
And he's quite well.
(I don't know if he's still hot, though!)

David, that's very interesting and luckily you didn't get any hate mail back.  Some people just don't like being on those mass mailings. But I'm wondering, does anyone know how old Tom Happer was while on DS?  Someone on another DS list thought maybe 18 since he was paired up with the character "Carrie" who was about 18-20 at the time, right?  On the IMDb website, it doesn't have the year he was born so I was just curious.

I remember Gloria Stavers featured him as the "new DS heartthrob" in 16 magazine, but the show got cancelled before he could take off in the hearts and minds of DS'ers, I guess.  [hall2_rolleyes]  He was a serious actor for a while, having done some stage work in NYC for a few years, as well as occasionally acting in film, at least until 1984.  He was, I'd guess, in his early twenties when he appeared on DS.
