Title: Selby in New HBO Series
Post by: MsCriseyde on September 20, 2006, 03:47:36 AM
This is somewhat related to Selby's on again / off again status with the LA Theatre Works Caine Mutiny Court-Martial tour. There's now a blurb on his official site (http://www.davidselby.com) indicating that he will be appearing in a new series for HBO that's supposed to premiere in 2007. The current title for the show is Tell Me You Love Me, but, in its earlier stages of development, it was known as SexLife. (I liked the old title better.  >:D ) Selby will be playing Jane Alexander's husband.

Here are some random snippets about the show:

Our landlord is a sweet lady in her 80's who doesn't see the necessity of cable, so just doesn't allow it. I've tried to tell her that being disabled and in bed most of the time, TV is my major source of entertainment, but it doesnt seem to "compute." At least I have ALL the DS DVDs to keep me happy!

If it's like practically every other television series these days, it'll wind up on DVD eventually anyway.  ;)

I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in that being the actual time slot for the show. That info is from one of the actors' web sites, and sometimes they're the last to know about when one of their projects is airing. Also, it's going to be a while before the show actually airs, so plans could change.

I'm not familiar enough with how HBO distributes their various season schedules to speculate much. Supposedly, the new Sopranos season will debut in March 2007, and I can see how using that show as a lead-in would be an ideal situation for a new series. Usually, once the networks are satisfied that a series has a fair amount of viewer loyalty, they kick it out from behind the strong lead-in spot to make room for another show whose ratings they want to boost and put it in another slot where, eventually, it can become a strong lead-in for another new series, etc.

For any E.R. fans out there, Variety reported this month that Sherry Stringfield will have a recurring role in Tell Me You Love Me.

An update for Selby fans -- Tell Me You Love Me is going to premiere on HBO in the fall. It will not be part of the spring/summer lineup of new and returning series such as Big Love, Entourage, and the Sopranos.
