I saw that also about him having a sister named  Margaret.  The order they were listed. I assumed she would be the youngest child also. But never was aware he had a sister until I read that article.

Perhaps Sam Hall was tired when he wrote those scenes and he just thought it made sense. Or he was on a deadline and had to come up with something quick.

First up, this:

[spoiler]
GERARD
... This case can be easily solved. All we have to do is find the head and prove that it has been destroyed. Quentin can no longer be possessed with something that doesn't exist. ...
[/spoiler]
Huh? Just how does one go about finding something that's been destroyed and doesn't exist?  [idontknow]

If that's the way Sam Hall actually wrote the dialogue, meaning it wasn't somehow twisted in James Storm's delivery, one really has to wonder what the hell sort of logic Hall was working from when he wrote it?!  [lghy]

Well what I understood that to mean was that it still existed. But they were going to find it first and make it look like it was destroyed so everyone would think that it no longer existed.

At least that is what I get out of the line, But maybe Sam Hall and I think alike. That is why I'm under the impression that I understand  what they were trying to convey.

My mind works this way regardless of what the writer's wrote.

Jonathan Frid was in his 40s in real life. So for me he was also in his 40s in the storyline.

I just simply ignore the dates. Since the dates never meant much to the writer's anyway. If they had they wouldn't have kept making so many mistakes with them. They would have kept track of the dates they already used in previous storylines. Iinstead of pulling a completely different date out of thin air to do a flashback or have a character to use a date to explain something that didn't agree with what had already been established as a date in a previous storyline.

Sorry if these make me come off like a know-it-all. 8)

I'm not trying to do that at all. I was luckily at a unique viewpoint during the pilot production and simply want to give you guys a better view of the processes, the thinking and what actually went on.  :o

Without getting into to much trouble, of course. ;)

I don't think you are a know it all. It just seems that there is abit more going on in the background than TPTB are revealing. I understand what you are saying. But I would love to have read the contract Dan Curtis and the WB signed. I can't quite figure out why they didn't at least complete it since they were so close to completion. It is abit interesting that they went as far as they did and then decided we no longer want it. Did Dan Curtis bring it to the WB as an idea for a remake or did the WB contact him? Just curious.

No way Curtis could have pulled the plug. It was up to the network- they licensed the rights and paid Curtis and provided the budget for the pilot...

That'd be like the cabbage deciding to sell the refrigerator because it didn't like sitting next to the eggs and tomatoes.

Depends on whether the contract they had was completely decided upon are an open ended contract.

My interpretation Verheiden's comments regarding the "time travel" issue, is that he said he "preferred" not to handle the telling of Barnabas's history through time travel, but that Curtis was still pushing for it to be handled in his traditional way. So, it seemed to me that this decicision was still up in the air. Perhaps I misinterpretted.

See I also got this same impression that Dan Curtis wasn't going to let his original concept of the show be done away with.

If it was an open ended contract. Then Dan Curtis could still have been the one to cause the show not to be picked up due to his ideas and the networks ideas not meshing together. It could have been creative differences at work. So technically Dan Curtis could still have been involved in the plug being pulled.

I have always wondered if one of the reason's it wasn't completed was that they thought it would be to difficult and expensive to do each week in the style it was being done in. From what I have heard. The special effects were elaborate and state of the art in the style that you would see in a big screen movie.

Not to leave out... I have always heard it said that Dan Curtis expects things done his way and he will not bend. It is either his way or the highway.

The fact that it was not seeming to follow what Dan Curtis saw as Dark Shadows original concept. Kinda makes one wonder if the network changed their mind or if Dan Curtis pulled the plug himself.

I'd know from the symbol in your posts.

That's specifically why the writers of message board software offer users the option of indicating gender in posts.  [wink2]

That is no guarantee either that the person is male or female.

Case in point... A girl from my community was expecting and the doctor's did all the test... Did them 3 times to be absolutely certain what the sex of the baby was going to be. Well the test they did kept revealing boy. We gave her a baby shower for a boy. Well a few weeks ago she gave birth to a 8 1/2 pound bouncing baby girl.

I mean it wasn't like they did one test... They did several and still got it wrong.

And when it comes to filling out forms. It is always possible to check the wrong box.

Excellent, FireRose! When the powers that be finally get around to releasing this classic on DVD, yours is the design they should go with for the cover of the DVD box.

Sandor,

I like your way of thinking... She was a very important part of this movie and I think she deserved the same billing as the rest of the cast got... Although I would argue that she deserved a whole lot more. Grayson was just amazing in this movie.

P.S. Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments.
