Kathryn has a new book coming out. It's called The Happy Hours, which is about bringing joy to her husband during his last years. It's available for pre-order from Amazon and will be released on June 1st. Presumably she will offer it through her website as well.

Calendar Events / Announcements '17 I / Adrian Paul in Rhode Island
« on: April 26, 2017, 07:10:49 PM »
He's probably not going to visit Seaview Terrace but Mr. Paul will be making an appearance at the Rhode Island comic con in Providence from November 10 through 12.
This looks like it could be an extremely pricey event. They have prices posted for autographs and photo opportunities. The autograph fee for Adrian is TBA. The fee for a photo is listed as $45, so I would expect a minimum of $40 for a signature. I know that sounds expensive but it's a veritable bargain when compared to Norman Reedus, who is charging $80 for a signature and $110 for a photo.

While looking for something else on Google images, I managed to stumble onto an early credit for Dennis Patrick. It's called The Strip Tease Murder Case. No, Dennis doesn't strip; no Chippendales in 1950. The film is sort of a murder mystery interrupted by what would be politely called specialty numbers. Dennis has dark hair in it, like Jason McGuire. And he is the only cast member to have had any long term success in acting. He is billed under his real name, Dennis Harrison. Which may be why the film remains largely unknown in DS circles. And possibly why he adopted a stage name. He appears very briefly in the trailer (which is on YouTube) but has no dialogue. The film itself is available from Something Weird, which it certainly is
Judging by what I saw in the trailer, it makes Plan Nine from Outer Space seem like Streetcar Named Desire.
It's definitely Dennis' answer to Satan In High Heels.

Calendar Events / Announcements '17 I / Ben Martin Passes Away
« on: February 18, 2017, 09:33:46 PM »
Kathryn Leigh Scott posted on her Facebook page that her former husband and business partner Ben Martin passed away of a pulmonary embolism on February 10th. I think that we all knew that Ben had worked as a photographer for Time magazine but I don't know if we all knew how truly iconic some of his pictures were. He took a picture of Richard Nixon during the debate with JFK that cost Nixon votes and quite possibly the presidency. He also took some heartbreaking pictures of Jacqueline Kennedy and her children after the funeral. Ben was everywhere in the 1960's. Martin Luther King. Marilyn Monroe. Hugh Hefner. And much, much more.
I remember him well from the Festivals, both during his marriage to Kathryn and after, usually wearing his bush jacket. Classy, classy guy. Rest in peace, Ben.

Kathryn is among the guests who will be appearing at The Hollywood Show in Chicago next month March 24-26th. It has a particularly interesting guest list: Angie Dickinson, Adam West, Dawn Wells,
Stefanie Powers, Gary Conway, Lee Meriwether, Edward Asner and Deanna Lund, in addition to KLS.
While you won't have to wait in line anywhere near as long as you would at a Festival, please be aware that there will be a charge for each signature or item. Probably an equal fee for a photo as well. That being said, the shows are well run and can be a great deal of fun.

I am sad to report that Robert Finocchio, who was a long time DS fan, passed away on February 4th after a brief illness. Robert was a first generation fan, from the ABC days. He was vice president of several fan clubs for David Henesy, Clarice Blackburn and Grayson Hall. He was also the president of Diana Millay's fan club for many years. He attended many conventions, going back to the early days of Shadowcon. And he produced what may have been the very first fan video entitled Dark Vengeance. Until more recent fan videos, Dark Vengeance was a serious horror video.
I didn't know Robert very well. We were just casual acquaintances. But this is a sad loss for his family and friends. And DS fandom as well. [snow_cry]

Calendar Events / Announcements '17 I / OT: All My Children Round Three?
« on: February 05, 2017, 12:51:42 AM »
On the heels of the All My Children tribute comes a rumor reported by Eva LaRue, who played Maria Santos. There is a rumor that the soap may be rebooted on Netflix. This is nothing more than a rumor at this point. If Susan Lucci gets involved, then I might take it seriously. daytimeconfidential.com

I suppose it's a sign of the times but Imdb will be shutting down its message boards later this month. variety.com The rest of the site is supposed to be untouched.

Now that the ABC/Prospect Park lawsuit has been settled, the characters from All My Children and One Life to Live are available for use on General Hospital again. First up is Nora Buchanan who will be involved in some upcoming legal drama for an unspecified stay. Hilary B. Smith will be reprising the role. Smith won a daytime Emmy as Nora and is definitely worth watching.
Also, Roger Howarth's Franco character has been given a very similar facial scar to what his Todd Manning character had on OLTL and GH.
It will be interesting to see how this is received.

Calendar Events / Announcements '17 I / Coming to Decades!
« on: January 22, 2017, 09:42:54 PM »
This coming Thursday, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Lara Parker and David Selby will be taping an appearance for the Decades show called "And Then Again With..."  The program is hosted by prolific author Herbie J. Pilato. Pilato has written quite a few books on baby boomer TV shows and icons, including two about Elizabeth Montgomery. No airdate has been announced but I am sure that it will receive a good amount of promotion. decades.com

If you missed out on the original release of My Scrapbook Memories of Dark Shadows, Kathryn has somehow, somewhere unearthed a limited quantity which are currently being offered for sale. The paperback is going for $39.95 and the hardcover for $49.95. To sweeten the deal, she is including not one but two signed color photographs.
I think that most of us long term fans bought this when it was first released. Maybe newer fans would be interested. The books are selling for more than they sold for back then but the price is definitely cheaper than eBay or Amazon.
