Obit in today's LA Times:
Thommie Walsh, 57; 'Chorus Line' dancer won two Tony Awards as a choreographer

Excerpt:  After his success in "A Chorus Line," he kept up a working relationship with several of the performers, including dancer Donna McKechnie, who had a leading role in the show. Walsh directed her in the autobiographical "Donna McKechnie: Inside the Music," which toured the U.S. five years ago.

I saw Donna in A Chorus Line twice!

I'm so sorry to hear this.
The New York theatre community continues to be decimated by HIV, I wonder if this is what happened to Walsh?

I thought people didn't die from AIDS anymore.  Am I wrong?

Magnus:

HIV is no longer the automatic death sentence it once was.
New meds can keep people alive and healthy for decades, just as insulin can do the same for diabetics.

But  not always.

People still die from both diseases, sad to say.

Unfortunately, yes.  Thousands and thousands of people die from AIDS-related complications every year. However, that said, you can have AIDS and still have a good chance of a productive life, living well beyond what was possible back in the 1980s.  Treatment options and medications now exist that did not years ago.  But not everyone succeeds in living a long life.  There's still a long way to go.
