Title: New Easter Smileys
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on March 22, 2019, 06:12:29 PM
You may have noticed that yesterday I added quite a few new Easter smileys. Well, starting today and every day through April 20th I'm going to be adding 1 or 2 new Easter smileys to the Posting Page. That means that in total there will be 65 new ones!! (Though, because there will be so many by the time I finish, starting next year we'll begin to rotate which Easter smileys actually appear on the Posting Page so they won't all be showing up every year.)

So, once again, enjoy or be aggravated!!  [easter_grin]

Here are the ones that were posted yesterday:

[Big Ears] [Fast Delivery] [Colorful Bunny] [Basket]

[Bunny Thumb Up] [Easter 7] [Easter Bunny] [Coloring Egg] [Jumping Bunny]

[Happy Easter Flowers] [Easter Egg] [Happy Easter Eggs] [Happy Easter 4]

[Happy Easter 3] [Happy Easter 8]

And one for Passover:

 [Passover]
(The only one I came across.)

The new ones for today:

 [Egg Factory] [Easter Bunny 2]

Who knew the Easter Bunny has a factory to produce eggs? But then, it would take him forwver to produce all the ones he needs if he had to do them by hand.  [easter_cheesy]

As a substitute teacher, the Easter Bunny is a great strategic weapon of mass destruction when dealing with unruly little critters.  All one has to do to bring any of them into line is to say we have him on speed-dial and then pick up the phone to have the EB leave only droppings and no baskets filled with candy.  Works like a charm.  We do the same with Santa.  After Easter, we have no ammunition left and so everything descends into chaos.  Any suggestions?

What about a cross, and a Star of David?

There are a couple of memes here, Patti, that include Passover (Pesah/Pascha).  Only in English-speaking countries is "Easter" used.  It comes from the Nordic source of the goddess of spring and rebirth, Eostre.  The proper name for "Easter" in Christianity is "Passover."  It used the Greek translation (Pascha) derived from Hebrew (Pesach) which means Passover.  That's why so many Christian denominations have Paschal candles and such.  Easter, like so many celebrations we have, come from an amalgamation of beliefs and practices, Pagan, Jewish and Christian (like Christmas, from where decorated trees and the world yule come from Paganism).

It's all seasonal fun.  Regardless of one's beliefs, enjoy and have fun.  As for me, I wait for my favorite - a huge bag of Reese's chocolate peanut butter eggs.

Happy Easter!  Happy Passover!  Happy Eostran!

BTW, for those wondering why there are still bunny smileys displaying on the post form even though Easter is long over, it's because 2023 is the Chinese Year of the Rabbit. The forum is embracing that because, well, just because it's fun.  [easter_wink] [easter_cheesy]

And BTW, some people have been wondering why the Easter Smileys are still up even though Easter was back on March 31st? Well that's because 1) it's true that's when Easter was in this country, but 2) Easter was so early here this year that Greek Orthodox Easter is still several weeks down the road, not until May 5th. Plus Passover, doesn't run until April 16th through the 30th, so I'll be putting up our Passover Smiley before too long.

But you know what that means as far as the Easter smileys go.
