She's a cocktail waitress at a Goth Bar
« on: August 23, 2002, 11:08:11 PM »
When Roger discovered Eve with Jeff and asked to be introduced, it reminded me . . .

Did you ever wonder who Eve was . . . BEFORE she was Eve? Not the spirit, or life force of Daniel Roget, but the BODY they used for "Eve?"

I'm assuming, of course, that unlike Adam, Eve was not stitched together from various body parts, but rather poor Willie could only be persuaded to unearth that one grave Joe caught him digging up. Thus, Julia used an entire, intact corpse to serve as the body of Eve (hence the lack of stitchery).

So who was this poor woman, buried in the shameless black dress? Judging by what she's wearing, I'd guess that Eve was a cocktail waitress at a Goth bar. Back in the 60's they didn't quite go so far with the make-up and piercings as they do today, you see, but the clothing style was already a staple of the sub culture.

I imagine her name was Gertrude, but people called her Gertie, or Gert, for short. She died from an infection she got getting her eyebrow pierced.

Who do you imagine The Body of Eve was before she was dug up? What was her name? Her profession? How did she die? ?!?

Well if she was buried in that outfit I would guess she was a lady of the evening.  Maybe she was the Collinsport Madam.

In life, she was the ex-wife of bartender Bob Rooney.  You can imagine Bob's shock when he sees her waltzing around town.

"I thought that I'd never see her again!" Bob probably kvetched to his good buddy, George Paterson.

What do you suppose her name was, perhaps Millie Rooney? How did she die, alcohol poisoning?

Probably a bored woman married to one of the cannery execs. She went out for a night on the town.

Well, Julia DID say the bandages were to keep her from scarring! So, I really do think she was pieced together. If for no better reason than Bob running into his deceased ex-wife! I could see where THAT could be a problem...

Dear Dr. Eric Lang,

Gertrude/Eve died from that dreaded disease which afflicts so many of my mother's people, the deadly "Irish Virus," (also known as the "curse of the Irish").

Maybe that's the dress Eve was wearing when her husband shot her and the guy she was with?

I love the title to this thread, Bob!   8)

It works as good as anything else.  The dress.  I don't see how this could be what she was wearing when she was buried.  Even if she isn't a bag o' parts, presumably Julia and co. would not have prepared the body with her wearing the black dress.  Also, if she were anyone like a cannery exec.'s wife, Roger would have recognized her.

so the next question is Where did that dress come from?
