Are there scapegoats in DARK SHADOWS? Which (if any) characters best fit the description? Please do explain...
It is a good day because I am still ticking!

Willie would seem to be the obvious one.  Aside from Barnabas framing him for all that originally happened to Maggie, he tried again recently.  When they thought the police would be suspicious and come to question them, he was going to remind them of Wilie's stay at Windcliff and that he's sometimes "not all there" and put all the blame on him.  He warned Willie to keep quiet and let him do the talking.

Oh, yes!  I vote for Willie.  Barnabas framed him for Maggie's kidnapping and takes out his frustrations on him when things go awry.

Scapegoat has a certain gaminess about it.....

Couldn't we refer to poor Willie as the sacrificial lamb?

That's a kinder and gentler way of describing how cruelly Barnabas Collins uses and abuses him.

Hey gang,

Wasn't Burke Devlin a scapegoat for Roger "The Dodger" Collins?  Five years in the slammer for a crime you didn't commit would be enough to embitter anyone, don't you agree?  (Think "Shawshank Redemption.")

Somehow, I don't think that Roger's belated admission of guilt would be enough to assuage the hot-tempered Mr. Devlin.

Bob the Bartender, who wonders if Burke Devlin (had he not gone down in that jet plane in Brazil) would have foregone any acts of vengeance against Roger, a la Vito Corleone?

In 1795, Nathan Forbes was going to use Noah Gifford as his scapegoat and frame him for being the Collinsport strangler, if he didn't agree to murder Daniel Collins.

Barnabas was the scapegoat for Harry after he got the blame for poisoning Joe's medicine.

Vicky was used as a scapegoat for Angelique during the 1795 storyline as she was being accused of witchcraft, espcecially by Trask & Abigail, when Angelique was the real witch.

Also I remember Quentin being used as a scapegoat for all of Gerad's (Judah Zachary) crimes during the 1840 storyline and he was tried for witchcraft.
